so love the Shotgun FC the humidity lingers at 86% was concerned at first now not so much.

but looking at the way the Lid is seated when on it appears to have gaps ????

anybody ever look at this ???

86% i perfect unless your doing cakes. i keep the top off set 1 inch on purpose for fae from a ceiling fan, but i don't have as many holes as some people. 20 - 3/8" and 6 - 2" with polyfill. the 2" holes were a mistake, but it worked out w/ the polyfill. mono / fc:shrug:

you could also get a tub with locking handles or close up some holes, just not so much as to loose too much fae. try the polyfill in a few.

FAE is achieved thru opening and faning and misting im here have no problem doing it.

lay'd out the holes 2" oc every surface (cabinet maker) it was fun.

like the mostly clear tub its done run what ya brung !!!

yeah, perlite is the jam 4-6" thick with 1/4" water line. it was cold in my house when i started and put a heating pad under it. everyong advises against them because it's supposed to dry shit out, but i still have mine on low low and it causes the water to evaporate very little out of the perlite and create additional humidity. i have to add water to the perlite every week or two but it works for me.

i'm a cabinet maker too. lol

i've got a few cakes but mostly small bulks (2-3 qts), i'm getting into edibles so i'm steping up to a martha. just starting a dry run now.

2" oc sounds like alot to me although, i'm the idot that broke the rules only to fail in the begining so what the fuck do i know. :flowstone: how big are the holes? is it RR's pattern? i wish i just followed his guidance when i started:bow2:

and yeah, all my tubs and trays are clear, i'm nosey.:biggrin:

RR told me hard to grow Edibles in a Martha the need ALOT ALOT of FAE Tahoe also chimed in and says the same thing.

nope

10 - 3/8" holes at the very top
10 - 3/8" holes half way between top of perlite and top of tub
8 - 2" holes w/ polyfill near the perlite (like a mono tub )
not saying it's the best idea or anything just what ended up with. i't seems to work, i'm satisfied.

i used to have 3", 33cfm cpu fan / timer running 15min every 4hrs to replace fanning because i was on vacation. i worked pretty good. came home to a so-so harvest.  i left them in for a while but took  them out because it was too much. i had just 2 big holes with poly then. i would only do it again if i had to leave for a long time.

again i'm not saying it's a good idea, just what i did.

the bottom you might consider doing cause convection pulls well thru the bottom giving you great surface area

Edibles need a lot of FAE regardless of how you grow them. A mini-greenhouse is one of the best ways to do it, you just need to cut more holes in the plastic than you would otherwise.

i just did oyster and shiitake in a tent on my diningroom table ( kits ) i made some clones and took spores. growing it out on agar now. oyster spores in wbs.

i have a home made martha ( wire shelves and plastic drop cloth ) im gonna turn the plastic into swiss cheese and see if it works. i want to grow outside but  i'm afraid it'll be too hot here and it wilt everything. the rh is high too though. still gonna try it both ways. i don't have much experience but plenty of drive. this shit is really fun.

If you built the shotgun terrarium by the tek, and your hygrometer is reading 86%, it means you need to calibrate it, or buy a higher quality hygrometer that CAN be calibrated.  A shotgun terrarium will maintain 90% with the lid off.

The problem is your hygrometer. I had one of those hygrometers once and it wouldn't go above 80%. Just buy a real one from a cigar shop or don't use one at all chances are if that cheap one goes up to 86% then it really is above 90%
