Don't use this digital hygrometer...
    #793658 -

Don't use this hygrometer from Radio Shack. It worked fine for a few weeks, but starting acting flaking today (reading temp. in Celsius when I had it set for Fahrenheit, reading very low humidity when it was obviously very wet).

I opened it up, and found rust and corrosion all over the circuit board and batteries, obviously from the high moisture.

Now I just need to find one of those probe type digital hygrometers, or at least a good analog one.

i am in the same boat trying to find a good one.....

been also looking for one of the probe type, but the only probe types i have seen, only read Temp with the probe.....so the unit still has to be in the terr. to read humidity....

the digital one i have now, reads OK....but it will flash the humidity and HI on and off.....so that gets annoying

Use a 63-1031 Radio Shack. It's a sealed stand alone unit. Been using mine for months.

Don't use any. It's not making your shrooms grow! if you have condensation on the walls of your terrarium then fan it, if there is none, spray!

The accuracy of any hygro between 90 and 100 is rare.

luvdemshrooms, thanks for advice. what humidity do you keep your terr. at? i'm doing cakes, so if it'll handle 95%rh, then i'll get that one.

In reply to:

fanning is for removing CO2, which has nothing to do with condensation, and is being done automatically in my setup via vent holes on the bottom and forced air injection at the top via a cool mist humidifier.

also, the absence of condensation does not necessarily mean the humidity is too low. it may just be an indication that there is a very low temperature differential between the inside and outside of the terrarium.

Absolutely correct!

Search for a post I put here somewhere giving the link to where you can get a GOOD digital hygro-thermometer made by Oregon Scientific. Nevermind I'll find it for ya dude... brb
