low humidity
    #2860988 - 07/06/04 08:47 AM (19 years, 9 months ago)

my foaf recently went on vacation for 3 days and returned to discover something had gone wrong with his automated fruiting chamber...the hose connected to the ultrasonic had come loose, depriving the casings of humidity! the rh was 54% when he returned. he had just started to induce pinning when he left, and when he returned the casing layer was lightly and evenly colonized, but very dry. he fixed the setup and misted the casings. now the casing layers are bluing and he is wondering if they are doomed or if there is hope for recovery

They will recover, the bluing is just brusing from the spray, you'll see
a turn around in a day or so, and the mycelium will rewhiten.

All thats really happened is you stalled it a bit, and maybe aborted the first flush, given moisture and humiderty, it will recover and fruit fine.

Oftern in nature the mycelium will dry out, this doesnt kill it, only stalls it.

Also some of the blueing can be caused by some of the myc on top drying out and then when you add water to it it will turn blue.
