Just a quick question, how long does a shroom drop spores?
and when is optimal time to take a print?
cuz i had this monster cap i wanted to print, it wasnt dropping spores at 6AM this morning, but when i checked it at 6PM it had started to drop spores...  i went ahead and put it on a laminated index card......

i dunno if it is still dropping spores tho.. how fast do ya have to be?
did i catch it early enuff to get a dark ass print?
i want to make atleast 5 syringes :frown:

Whe the cap begins to plane out, cut it from the stem and print it for at least 12 hours.

well, im growing mazatpecs, they dont plane out all that much,
should i start printing as soon as the veil tears completely away?
even if it hasnt started dropping spores?

would this print come out alright? even tho it started dropping spores already? (it started dropping sometime within 12 hours ago.....

If the veil has torn away. It is dropping spores.

Most often, with healthy shrooms. You will find dropped spores on the inside of the veil, as it tears away.

At least that is the raccoons -- experiance................ :smile:

Ahhh, well now i know, and knowing is half the battle.....
but one question still remians, for how long do they drop spores?
24 hrs?
48 hrs?
5 million years?

They will continue to drop spores, so long as they are able.

Meaning, until they begin to dry, shrivel & shrink.

The raccoon has set a cap down, the size of a silver dollar. Then -- stupidly -- forgot it. It layed down a silver dollar size print, then began to shrink & shrivel, down to the size of a 50 cent piece.

As it shrank, it smeared the spores it was dragging along with it  :frown:, from the larger spore track it had already set down.

Generaly, the coon leaves them 24 hours, or until the cap JUST starts to shrink.

Get a curved stainless steel dental pick to LIFT OFF caps straight UP from a print. They work great.

You don't want to make prints in a very humid enviro, or myc can start growing on the caps, under optimal conditions.

(edit), if you have an impulse sealer, or even one of those Seal-A-Meal type sealers. If you set prints on heavy wax paper. You can take another sheet of it & cover the print, then seal a around the edges w/sealer. Prints are then visible, tightly sealed & easy to store & work with -- later.  :wink:

right now im doin the prints on a laminated index card....
prolly gonna put it in a ziplock and make some syringes....
