Monotub rH?
    #9666873 -

Alright, so I have had some success with monotubs but I was curious as to what the best rH for an uncased monotub would be.  Obviously the answer is as high as possible, but I am not down for making some crazy plastic wrapped room.  So, what is the highest rH I can maintain in a room and be completely sure it will not damage the walls and everything?  Currently I only have the ceiling fan on in the room 24/7...if i cranked up the humidity could i also turn on an oscillating fan on low to add more FAE?

Also, will a two 4' fluoros mounted on the ceiling provide enough light for my monotubs if i mount the fixture directly over them?  (It's only two tubs so that wouldn't be a problem).  Up to this point i have put the light vertical next to the tubs and they are stacked...
I am aware that the lumen output of fluoros greatly depreciates over rather small distances compared to other types of light, so I am just curious if it is still sufficient to penetrate 1/2" into the substrate?

Thanks in advance.

You want the inside of your mono-tubs to maintain close to 100% humidity as possible. Obviously the higher the ambient Rh is, the easier it is to accomplish this.  The goal of any mushroom cultivator is to maintain Rh while giving as much FEA as possible without drying out the substrate. My mono-tubs are currently in my closet, it is winter and the RH is 16%, but my tubs stay steady at 95%.  All be it, I had to decrease FEA to maintain this.

Yeah, I understand the concept of monotubs.

I am just asking how high I could put the rH without damaging my house. Because higher rH means I could increase FAE and have better mushrooms.

I am more or less asking because I have this humidifier but it is a wick humidifier, so it is useless for a greenhouse.

i don't see how it would damage your house.... but if you can get you house that humid you probably using a shit load of humidifiers... you can just use a humidifier and alter it so you can pump moisture in to each tub (hoses, pvc, etc)

If you can maintain your grow room or your house at say 50-60% Rh your golden.  It will also lower your heating bills, reduce static electricity and make for an all around more comfortable environment for you and your mushrooms.

Mine sits around 40% RH with a humidifier running 24/7.
I mist my tubs once or twice a day.

Inside the monotub, it needs to be around 80%, according to RR.

It's been working out pretty good for me.
