tweaking a humidifier... (and temperature)

heeey, i got this vick's cool mist hum. going on right now...
it works perfectly well as in there is air exchange and humidity going on 24/7...
the thing is... that its really high humidity. i have been thinking about getting two valves (one leading to each terrarium) so as to limit the humidity by individual settings without restricting air flow...
also, winter is coming, and being in a colder state than florida is gonna cause some temperature issues (its pretty cold as of now). any ideas as to what to use to regulate the temp? been looking at reptilian stuff (for heat) and water heaters (for fish) but im not really sure as to what i can do...
any insights? ill post pictures of our setup laters, if i remember where i left the camera.
peace & happiness

**bump** because we still need advice :)
HQ's idea is to add 2 more chambers (she and her jackal have 2 currently) bumping it up to 4 total being fed off of the vicks. this would cut down the humidity (?) by a degree...
or, shes partial to the valve idea (like in psilocybe cubensis' setup- the one inspired by mcman)... to regulate the amt of humidity to each chamber.
she thinks the 24/7 cycle is way too much- nice air exchange, but too much humidity (had some of that errant myc. like in dioze's post in adv cult- on the pr's no less ::grin:: )
we dont have a humidity/temp gauge (yet)- but HQ doesnt think its that cold in cali, just that her jackal is a bit tropical :)
so yeah, advice on tweaking a cool mist would be greatly appreciated, and would stop us from butting heads on the issue... ::laughing:: (give us something better to argue about!)

That would work

I wouldn't use a valve. The coolmists motor relies on the airflow to cool it

Use a timer to regulate the flow. If you also use the drilled vent holes that I use it maintains air flow so the humidifier merely maintains humidity.

If your temps are around 72F then you don't need a guage. If you see condensation on less then 25% of the surface area of your chamber, it's just about right for casings. If the condensation is covering 90% then you should be doing cakes. I call this the 3M flybytheseatofyourpants humidity tek LOL

Make love, not war. If you can't figure that one out...yer doomed LOL
