Is it a nessicary step to let a freshly made spore PRINT dry? saying you put a cap on a sterlized laminated index card (in a glovebox with no hepa) then after 12-24 hours removed the cap, and slid the card w/print into a fresh ziplock baggie....
now, would u have to dry the print for storeage? and if so... how to do that without introduceing contams?

Not necessary. In fact, when you are ready to use the spores, you may need to rehydrate them in a solution of sterile water for 12-24 hours depending on how old the print is. I keep mine at room temperature away from direct sunlight. If your print making process was clean, you shouldn't get contaminants when you grow these out in a controlled sterile environment.
I've never heard of spore prints themselves becoming visibly (with the naked eye) contaminated.

Actually, I?ve seen that happen when I started growing shrooms and didn?t let the paper prints dry before putting them in a zip lock baggie.
> how to do that without introducing contams? Either in front of a flow hood, or put the prints in a tupperware container covered with a clean cloth for 1 day.

I let mine set in the glove box 24 hours before packing in my ziplocks. I'm not trying to dry the spores but evaporating the residual moisture from the mushroom cap. I've stored them at roomtemp for years and rehydrated in sterile water with success.

That would be fine, but it's still a good idea to put something in your glovebox to absorb the moisture... like a clean cloth. That Anno... ALWAYS knowing what he's talking about. That bastard...

Actually, I meant the cloth as a mean of covering the tupperware container and enabling some air exchange.
>i suppose a little dish of dri-rite would work as well... sure, I like to keep the things simple(r) though.
