I have a perfect spore print, and a bag of agar, all I need is a petri dish.. Is it possible to directly use a Gulf Coast spore print, and skip the syringe making??? I cant find syringes anywhere in my town and someone i know is eager to start another batch ASAP.. please respond asap as the mail is going out to Spore Trading Post for a trade for a B+ syringe.

Multispore innoculation on Agar. Yes, it can be done. I would use a glovebox though. Have you choose a recipe for your agar mixture ? Peace, MAIA

i think you need more than a petri dish, agar and a spore print in order to be successful. first you need to know exactly what you're doing. the mushroom cultivator and other books can help you more than teks on the web. second you'll need a refrigerator where you can store media dishes/slants, potatoes, dextrose, yeast, malt extract, scalpel, _several_ petri dishes, gloves, mask and maybe some antibiotics. not to mention the whole sterile lab/closet if possible, a flow hood or glovebox can be useful if you cant make up a lab. my wookie friend would use the pf/mmgg tek if i were in this persons place

well, agar itself is not very nutritious for the mushrooms so you have to add some nutritive things like potato broth, dextrose or malt extract. somebody said you can make a liquid medium growth made out of water and malt extract. about your contams, if they're already set i think you should throw it out and start another batch (whatever you're doing agar or liquid media) with some gentamicyn and/or H2O2. dont forget that h2o2 kills spores, works only with mycelia.

can i use a premixed agar recipe of Malt Extract Agar? Yes you can adding other stuff just adds to the nutritional value of your MEA and helps make mycelium healthier. Has anyone told this guy about the spore trading post?? That guy is a thief and a moron and I would sugest that you avoid that site at all cost's

Honey and agar works, you have to be very sterile though. Peace, MAIA

i would assume karo corn syrup works also. i heard someone talk about that in mycellium water and that its 95% dextrose and its also clear so you can see spores germinating rather than with honey where its more difficult. Ive made 2 corn syrup/myc water 1/2 pints and theyre both coming along well enough; so I would assume on an agar plate it would do the same assuming it was mixed properly.
-------------------- Holy shit people; COMMON SENSE! we were all born with it where did it go? maybe theres a tek out there to explain how to use it! BUCKETS BRIGADE left hand man!!!

I have been wondering laterly, would malted milk work as malt extract? I know they arent the same thing but they are both malt right. Not for MEA but for like malt water. I have a ton of this stuff here at my house.
