I ordered 1 mexican syringe from PF many years ago.
All the prints I have ever done have been right on the bottom of a sterile jar.
Straight PF Tek.
To be truth full,I never even practiced sterile techniques.
I baked the jars at 300 for 30 minutes, thats about it.
Ive never had ANY contaminaton.
99.99999 % success.
No shit.
I opened a jar of spores
that were 13 months old. 13 months.
The cakes look great, the old spores germinated and the mycelium grew just as aggressive as it did a year ago.
Straight PF Tek.

It's always best to take your prints on paper, most like card-stock. Paper in easy to dry after you take the print. Bone try prints keep for many years.
The spore printing Tec in the MMGG in still on of the best around, follow it, and you should never have any problems.

I recommend taking prints on foil. The spores scrape off much easier than on paper.

I can only second RipSnort on that one - if you use a bit of common sense you should excellent results (prints+syringes).
I have tried the direct water method with rather little success (and believe me I have tried it more than once)...
Basically: go with the PF way.

several factors in deciding like how much space to store.
i like single prints on tissue paper.
multi-prints i do in plastic gladware containers, can get 5-6 prints into one.
microscope slides are also good.

I believe I read of taking prints on acetate sheets (the clear plastic overhead projector sheets). I would think this would make the spores very easy to scrape off, be easily sterilized with alcohol or the like, and would allow you to compare unknown prints against different backgrounds to determine colour easily. I'll give it a try when I print my next batch. Card is very good. I'll have to give foil a try, too.

Thanks for your post, RipSnort! I'll be making my first print using the straight PF tek. It's good to know others have had success without worrying too much about the sterile environment. I am inspired! :smile:
