I feel bad for people who define themselves through their clothing or speech patterns.

I think it happens to lots of people, gay or not.

I wouldnt necessarily consider clothes a physical feature.

But there is absolutely no reason in the world why a dude would have to develop a lisp and walk around shaking his ass and waving his hand around like a fairy. I know lots and lots and lots of females and have NEVER seen one act like that so he's not just expressing his feminine side.

The only girls I know who act slightly similar are hoodrats

This is a very interesting topic. I've always wondered this myself. I think its just a way for them to advertise themselves, if you will, to other gay men. Like...if they didn't assume this role then how would they know who to seek out for relationships? Its like why some women wear revealing clothing, to try and woo us guys in. However, if they're not a slut, they usually end up roping in the wrong type of guy. Take me, for example. I like seeing a woman in barely any clothing or none at all, but there's obviously a more appropriate time and place for such things. I wouldn't dare ask out a woman dressed like a dick magnet in a million years, because that strongly suggests she is promiscuous by nature and uses her "assets" to reel men in. She probably gets way too much attention and will change her mind about a guy more often then she changes shoes. Modesty and personality are key, because this suggests loyalty. The key is, if you're dating a woman, you want her to dress for herself, and, if a night of fun is ahead, for you, too. Having a girlfriend that dresses slutty all the time says that she is always looking out for a hotter dude than you. So back to the gay thing, I know a few gay guys myself, and it seems that if they're in a relationship they will tone down their appearance and flamboyancy. But if they're looking for another guy, they'll let themselves be known. However, I'm basing this off only three gay guys I know so I can't be sure if this is true about all of them, let alone if my reasoning is even correct. But, putting it into perspective, and looking at how women try and let men know they're available, it seems as if it would apply to gays as well.

Of course, if you consider it that way, the excentrism of gay culture is only about having fun, since everyone his hiding behind a persona anyway.

But I still think that, uncounsciously, the gay community is claiming the feminine part held within every man. Guys are traditionally made of 100% testosterone, but it's just culture. Some are now taking back some of the characteristics labeled as "feminine" such as sensibility, sensuality, and so on. In a pretty provocative way.

I don't really understand what you are saying. They act a different way because thats what they want to be, thats what they are fighting for, to be able to be accepted for their culture and personalities. I do not see what they will accomplish by "toning down", maybe they will gain rights, but they will be compromising who they are.

I know lots of gay guys who dont fit the stereotype. My best gay friend has long hair, drives a truck, collects knives/swords, drinks beer, goes to redneck bars, dresses like a straight guy, in every way other than sexual preference he seems straight.

Becoming a flamer isn't key to being accepted as gay. I'm not saying for them all to tone it down; what I'm saying is don't force yourself into being super gay just because you think that's the only way you can live as a gay person.

Its a culture. Some gay people when they come out choose to join this culture. Seems strange to some people because they are from a different culture with different values.

It isn't a culture, flamboyant people and gay people are seperate. There are streight and gay flamboyant people, though when you are only 1 tenth of the population and not 'mainstream" they, the mainstream, love their ugly little boxes.

I'm gay, came out to many(not all), and, though I'm a bit of a wuss, that's the hippie in me, not the gay. I'm not flamboyant and the only reason I'd wear pink is if it was that awesome neon ulra bright hot pink, in a cool pattern, or to piss my dad off. No gay person I know is very flamboyant either.

I hate it when people think it is part of our "culture", they are an embarrassment that we could do without. Normal gay people have a hard time arguing with logic, so what do you think these people do to the poorly orchestrated movement?

I can respect everything you said besides this...why do alot of gays seem to have a condescending attitude towards straight people like they figured something out that I didnt. I mean no disrespect at all its just something Iv noticed in a large portion of the gay population in southern california.

Our "ugly little boxes" ensure the progression and survival of our species, being that you need a male and a female to make a baby (i dont wanna hear about artificial insemination thats not a reliable means of guaranteeing another generation and it still doesnt work with 2 dudes)

If the entire world went gay the human race would die out fast...doesnt sound like a positive change to your genetic code to me. It sounds mean but nature is mean its not politically correct and could care less about your feelings. Nature is also about balance and order, given that gay people cant make babies to me it would only be logical and natural that a minority of humans be born gay.

Not all of us do think we are better. Some have pride, which you need in adversity, and some are truly arrogant. We are not a cult, everyone is different, besides, Southern California doesn't house every gay person in the world, maybe it's just the attitude in the region; the SoCal attitude.

Artificial insemination is very reliable, and the thought that one would even consider trying it on two guys to make a baby is moronic. Those ugly little boxes, that disdain isn't what keeps people from becoming gay as you insinuate. Not everyone likes the same sex, and not all like the opposite, that wont change. The argument that we are going to turn everyone gay is the lowest most idiotic argument there is, and only the most mentally weak use it(looks like that's you, buddy). No, I don't care that I'm insulting you, that argument deserves no mercy, as do the fools who use it. This isn't about the human race's survival, it's religious tyranny and ignorance which runs rampant through the human race. If everyone, let's say, did become gay and the human race did die out, then so be it. No one was directly murdered, and human rights were not violated, but since this thought and notion are so utterly unrealistic, let alone the idea that prejudice is good and keeps it from happening. Honestly, if someone uses that argument they should be spat on.

You obviously don't get that homosexuality is nothing more then the preference of loving one gender, the one that happens to be your own, as opposed to the other. It has no bearing on weather you like pink and ponies, or weather you think you are better then anyone. Saying you are gay is no different then saying you are white; you can't change it(not for real, trust me), and it doesn't, in reality(fuck stereotypes), have any bearing on your personality. That's the truth, and straight people shouldn't speculate, because there isn't really anything to speculate about.

I probably could be nicer, but I hear ignorance spew from the mouths of my peers and those who are supposed to be older and wiser, then on a board of trippers who should have some wisdom(I'd think), it's maddening.

 Thats a sure-fire way to piss off most dads.  Just having a gay son is enough to piss off most dads.

I read a fascinating theory on a possible cause of homosexuality.  All human fetuses are female up until a certain stage of development.  A fetus with the Y chromosome will develop testicles and begin to produce testosterone at some point. When there is enough testosterone, it is released from the testes to the rest of the body. The testosterone causes the body, and then the brain to masculinize. The theory is that in some people, there is enough testosterone to masculinize the body, but not enough to fully masculinize the brain.  Therefore a male can be left with the desire for males, as his brain is still in a more feminine form and retains some feminine traits.

The one thing that bugs me about gay guys is the intentional lisp that some of them have.  Isn't a lisp considered a speech impediment? Hell, when I was in elementary school they put kids into a speech therapy class if they had lisps.

Ill say it again, whats with gay people thinking they got something figured out I couldnt. I offered an opinion based on my logic, when it comes to sexuality there is no right or wrong just what works and what doesnt work given whatever goal your trying to accomplish (have fun, make a baby, etc)

You say being gay has absolutely no bearing on what you prefer (be real man) but this entire thread is about just that subject (how come sooooo many gays feel the need to act a certain way)  the fact that somehow you though i was insinuating that artificial insemination would EVER be possible between 2 dudes would lead me to question your intellect as well but that doesnt mean your not a good person that I could get along with. Talking about wisdom, I can agree to disagree with people...alot of gays i run into cant seem to do the same.
