I didn't mix up my casing.

Some dude put vermiculite in the bottom of his rubbermaid tub for a casing. He broke his cakes up onto it and covered it with more vermiculite. He was wondering if he was supposed to mix up his casing. he did read up on it but it didn't mention it. he just want to know if it will help speed it up.

Dont mix it up, let it be, when you start to see patches of myceiliem growth, patch those with a thin layer of your casing mixture.

Yeah, do NOT mix the casing with the substrate.

The casing is a layer of nutrient-free substance that acts as a barrier of contaminates from entering the nutrient rich substrate. It of course acts as a micro-climate which keeps your mycelium happy, dark and moist. The casing is a substrate's best friend
