No vermiculite! Substrate, peroxide and sterility?

I can't get any vermiculite, but I got tons of Perlite.. So I wondered if I
can use the perlite as a substitute for the vermiculite? And if I do that,
should I use amounts of perlite equal to the amount of vermiculite normally
used in the substrate? (Doing ricecakes)

Whats the difference between the perlite and vermiculite anyways?

I did make a substrate of perlite, water with honey, long brown rice, rice
flour and straw. Is that a good or bad solution? Anyone can reccommand a
good substrate that the mushrooms really will love? I grow Psilocybe
Cubensis "Mazatapec" strain at the moment, first try.

And I came across www.mycomasters.com and on their site they say:

"There's no need to build a sterile laboratory, buy a special giant pressure
cooker, or even construct a glove box. A low concentration of peroxide keeps
out the contaminants, while allowing healthy growth of mushroom tissue. And
as the mushroom tissue grows, it converts the peroxide to water and oxygen,
leaving a clean, vigorous mushroom culture."

Is this really true? Why all the fuzz about sterility etc in that case? And
what about the so called "Captain's oven tek"? Is it enough to just heat up
the oven and use that as working place? Will the contams and bacteries be
