im still new at this and have had some contam problems but i know how i screwd up the first time but with my second try i did everyting right (so i tought) the jars were boild for an hour i wore a mask and the needle was flame sterilized till red so what could have caused the contams this time?

Did you buy or make your syringe, either way that could have been the source. Or maybe God just hates you, hehe.

Boiling your jars is never 100% reliable. You really need a pressure cooker to guarantee you've killed all the bugs.

i had a top layer of verm and my holes were coverd with foil during boiling and tape after they cooled but i do got a cat that sheds alot(did i mention the he was the one growing them)

Yeah, let's kill god. hehehe. But anyways, don't fret it. Contams happen. Did all of your jars get contaminated? If so, it still may be your sterilization process. If it was that easy to pin down where contams came from, no one would have these problems. (yeah I know that this is addressed to Roadkill, but the part about the contams isn't)

Did you wipe the inside lip of the jar after putting the wet BRF/Verm mix into the jar?
You want to wipe the inside lip before adding the Dry Verm layer.
Some people get contams cause they don't wipe this 1/2" section.
Contams will find there way past this.... if you don't wipe it clean......IMHO.

I agree that a PC is better, but it is not 100% either. If you can't get a PC, boiling is your next best option, once you've done it a couple of times, you can get pretty good, I got up to about a 90% success rate with boiling.

yeah all they jars are smelly no visible contams i opend em only after they faild to grow i opend just one it was contaminated that smell makes me wanna throw up a few days later wich is today i opend the rest they smelled so how do i kill god?
can i use a fork?

boil it alittle longer next time. I went an hour and a half because that what the majority of people told me to do. So far no contams (knocks on wood)

oh yeah i used organic soy flower insted of brf it said someware that that would werk maybe its more prone to contams

gotcha....I'll bet that is why you got contams.

next time wipe.....and use brown rice flour.

2 cups Verm
1 cup water
1 cup BRF

better luck next time!
