agnostic, as it is the only one that truly makes any sense, though i do lean on the side of atheist...but alas, i cannot prove there is no god(s) just as much as others can prove their is one.

Alas, can you not prove the existence of an invisible pink unicorn either?

Pragmatic atheist is the way to go.

I voted Theist because there was no STAL and no view results options.

There is plenty of evidence that doesn't exist.  If you want to try to use that argument, your gonna have to try a better, more general example.  Something that really has a 50/50 chance of existence/not existence.

Are you saying God has an exactly 50/50 chance of existing?  Also, please present your evidence against an invisible pink unicorn.  I should mention that this unicorn is transparent to all forms of EM radiation and is correspondingly weightless.

This is just semantics but agnostic is not an alternative to atheism or theism.  You either believe in god or you don't.  Everybody on the planet is either atheist or theist.

Yea, of course.  There is an equal amount of evidence on either side - none.  For any arbitrary system with two states, in lieu of any information at all you have a maximum uncertainty of 50/50.  Its simple.  Only by adding information can you change your uncertainty, and the 'pink unicorn' has alot of specific information around it.

Seriously dude?  Its like your asking me to patronize you...  If the unicorn is pink, then its not invisible.  The fact that it contains two contradictory traits is evidence that it does not exist.  The regular unicorn is defined as a horse-like horned creature, that occupies the same ares that grazing animals do.  All these areas have been explored, no unicorns to be found.  All of this provides evidence that skews the initial 50/50 probability of the unicorn to a higher percentage against.  No such evidence exists for god (or other things like extra solar life).

Then surely either chicken OR mashed potatoes is my favorite food, there is not the slightest chance of indecision.

On another note: This has been quite the discussion in the Pub lately. Over/under on how many posts before this turns into a debate about creationism vs. evolution?

What evidence is there in favor of God?

What evidence is there against God?

I really dispute your claim that there's an equal amount of evidence on either side, unless you're arbitrarily defining God to be an essentially meaningless concept.

I define god a the creator of the universe, I think that pretty much encompasses most the major beliefs and thus is as close to a consensus humans have.

If that were true then there is certainly evidence that most people's concept of God does not exist.

I voted agnostic, but I'll often support atheist arguements.

I challenged god to a dual, the winner would get the universe. God did not respond, I'm taking his lack of response as a sign of submission and therefore am laying claim to the universe.

I'd say most religious conceptions of a God involve one that is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent.  If you're talking about a God that has no interaction whatsoever with the Universe (a la Blind Watchmaker), then I ask... why do you need such a conception?

My model of reality works perfectly fine without invoking complex metaphysical beings; Occam's razor and pragmatic reasoning points me towards atheism.

I guess that means we'll both have to dual for the universe then, because I did the same thing!
