My 1st bag FINALLY has some mini mushies growing inside it!  Yesterday I spotted what I thought were pins, but I wasn't getting my hopes up - but today they're definitely shrooms!  :grin:  The biggest 1 is probably 1/2", and I hope they all get big and healthy.  I guess I'm gonna find out if there's enough moisture in the bag to support decent growth.  I'm pissed cuz I was gonna dunk it this past weekend, but I figured I'd just be patient, cuz the bottom of the friggin bag was still showing progress on the little "bald spot" down there.  From the looks of it tho, it DOESN'T look like it's very moist, which would in turn cause a low RH in there.  :mad2:  Ehh it's all good, even if this 1st flush is little, I'll give it a nice thorough dunk and get a nice 2nd flush. 

Today is Day 38 for the bag, and it's the 1 that I mixed.  The other 2 bags that I didn't mix are right in there too, but they're only on Day 28, and from the looks they have the same little "pre-pins" like this bag had.  So I'm definitely "anti-mixing" now, as I see that it definitely does slow things down IMO.

I'll try and get some pics when they're a little bigger, but I don't wanna mess w/ the bag just yet.  I'll definitely have pics once I harvest them, so I'll be updating in the next few days.  I've been waiting for this day now for a like 2-3 wks, hahah..

J3illy next time you should do 5lbs of WBS or Rye in an empty bag.. That's what I plan on doing when I get some bags.. I am odering them friday.. So next week some time I'll have 5 5lb bags of WBS going..  :grin:

The 2nd set of bags is gonna be fine - the insides are full of condensation, which shows the substrate is still nice and moist - and they're definitely gonna have shrooms real soon by the looks of it. 

But this 1st bag, I don't think this 1st flush is gonna be anything special.  There's 3 little shrooms I saw, and 2 are right in the middle on the top, but they're tiny - and the larger 1 is on the side of the bag, just peeking up over the top of the substrate right now.  But I think this is the case because on the sides right there, is probably where it's the most humidity/moisture.  Ehh whatever it's all good - cuz if I see that this 1st flush is dismal in the next couple days, I'm picking and giving it a nice long dunk.

LoL yeah I have about 500 ml's of Texas and F+ so I am good to go for my 5lb bags..  Just wait till you can dude.. You will be so proud of yourself.

If the first flush sucks, the second should be much better after a dunk. IME, the biggest mushrooms grow along the sides and bottom where the moisture is, not the top. You may want to get some empty syringes and try Creamcorn's LC Cloning tek with the biggest/fastest fruit. A clone will give you MUCH better pinsets and overall results than a multispore grow.

I've heard that cloning has a somewhat high contam rate.  How likely is it ya think, if I make a little glove-box?

Go buy a 60 quart sterile tub and use that as a glovebox and you will be good to go..

Cloning is easy! Hell, if I can do it...

No contams so far... cloned 2 mushrooms and both LC:s seem viable...

Menace showed me a little bootleg idea for a glovebox.  You get a small clear aquarium, and put it upside down on the edge of a table, with a few inches sticking out over the edge, so you can put your arms up and in from underneath - and you have your workspace enclosed.  It seemed like a nice simple idea, but a clear aquarium would probably be way more expensive than just a tub, no? 

Do they make cheaper aquariums made of plastic or something?  And if so, what do you guys think of this idea?  Here's a pic right here:

So you produced some viable clone LC's in there dead?  Hmmm, I think I wanna do it - but for my next grow I wanted to do a new strain, but make an LC from prints.  I'd be guaranteed some nice results tho if I cloned one of these, hmmmm.

A 60 quart sterile tub is about 8 bucks or less I bought a 105 for a PmP for 9.99..

Yea a glovebox is gonna be an absolute necessity if I take the dive into LC's and cloning - and it has to be done, I can't possibly do my next grow w/ multispore again, lol.

Cloning has no more of a contam rate then any other type of inoculation, although LC's do tend to contam more easily when you aren't extra clean. I've done creamcorns tek in open air successfully by following the directions in the tek. A glovebox can never hurt though.

After just taking a closer look at this bag, I'm really wondering what I should do.  I had planned on dunking the substrate once the bottom finished colonizing - but these pins popped up outta nowhere overnight.  Now I've counted like 8 pins maybe more - but they're all on the sides - where it's more moist/humid.  There's 2 little pins that are on the top but they don't look good - cuz it must be just too dry.  This substrate NEEDS to be dunked.  This is only a problem w/ this bag, cuz the bottom took so long to colonize.  The other bags are 10 days younger at the same point - and they have good moisture content.

But this bag, I'm wondering if I should just open it right up tomorrow, and dunk it pins and all?  Because honestly, I don't want to wait for it to put out a shitty flush cuz the substrate doesn't have enough moisture, ya kno?

hmmm the thing i found with bags is that you miss out on the sides of the substrate because it's pushing against plastic. When I had taken my cake out of the bag I saw dozens of pins that would not have like aborted or whatever if not put in FC. If it's solid like a brick throw it in a FC and be amazed. I think the 2nd flush? with bags is the biggest.
