shitty utah beer

so, im stuck in utah, because the roads to chicago are too snow filled to safely drive (80 some accidents today) so i bought myself some beer.....

and i get it back to my hotel, and i look at the label
3.2% alc/volume?
i mean, i know its bud lime (yeah i know its shit)

but C'mon! that is week, and that is just wrong and it even tastes shitty....

Bud lime tastes like the lime soaked sweat off a day laborers back. And according to SLC Punk, you can get higher percentage beer at liquor stores.

I wonder if they specially make beer for the Utah market to conform with their nazi regulations. Because elsewhere bud lime is 5% abv.

I think the alc content used to be 2.5% tops when I lived there.

Most of us had spare fridge's in the garage full of beer from over the state line

I went to college in Southern Utah (Cedar City).  We used to drive across the Nevada state line to Mesquite to buy beer for parties.  And you gotta think ahead and stock up for the weekend because you can't buy anything alcoholic on Sundays in Utah.  They lock the beer coolers and close the liquor stores at midnight Saturday and don't open them again til Monday morning.

Yes, spent ALL summer there last year.

Zion and Bryce Nat'l Parks are the prettiest places I've ever been, but I spent 6 weeks in Cedar City staying in the dorms at Southern Utah State University, which is a Mormon campus.

What a horrid state.

Bryce is just mind-blowing.

I had hiked down the Grand Canyon the weekend before we went to Bryce, and I was much more impressed by the latter.  Without a doubt one of the most amazing places I've ever been.







But hiking down the little slot canyons at Zion was incredible as well.

Yeah, thats where I went to school in the 80s.  It didn't even have university status back then, it was Southern Utah State College (still have some SUSC stickers around here I think).  But it is not a Mormon campus.  It just feels that way anywhere you go in Utah.  There is a large Mormon influence in all your local governments, school boards, etc, especially in small towns like that.  If you want to see what its like on a Mormon campus you should try BYU!

BTW, I lived in Juniper Hall when I was there.  Campus housing was fun at times, but only because I paid extra to have a room to myself (no room mate was key).

I was sure it was a mormon school.  I don't think I dealt with a single person there from the school that I wouldn't have pegged as a mormon.  We were all 20+ college kids and when we checked in they gave us a lecture about how anyone caught with alcohol in the dorm would have to take their alcohol awareness classes.

What a ridiculous place.  I met a cool girl from California working at the State Liquor Store on Main St. though.  I couldn't imagine living there.

I did a big geology study on Red Hill, just outside Cedar City.

Now I'm trying to think of the name of the dorm we stayed in...
