Dudes & Dudettes:

Been trying to boost yield of simple brf cakes in basic pf terrarium. Fairly religious with misting, fanning etc., and yields are decent. Recently, after first flush, I bored holes down through the center of each cake using a 1/4" phillips head screwdriver(hitting the 1/2" verm casing I left below), inserted a 3" plastic staw a little ways into each hole, and fill the straw with tap water a couple times a day. Results have been very good...mostly one or two very large 2nd & 3rd flush fruits, even on shrunken blue cakes. Better results than untreated cakes or double-ended cased cakes. I do the tek after the first flush 'cause the cakes seem heartier and more contam resistant. BTW, I use good old tap water every step of the way, from substrate prep to misting...I believe the small amount of chlorine helps to have no contam probs, ever!

I'm wondering whether adding dextrose or some other nutrient might boost the yield further?

And, slightly off the topic, presuming the cash might not be a major roadblock, I'm considering the Hydra-Pod. Thinking it might be an easy, compact way to boost yields w/o having to screw around with styro coolers, molten bolts, empty 2-liter bottles and such. Do you really get alot more mushies outta each cake?

yeah man a little dextrosedefinatley boosts yeild and speed of colinization ..imo...50/50 tapwater/dextrosewater...you can add dog food water...purina adult food ...simmer it for about an hor then take the water and use that...supposed to work well ive heard

Also how about the water from poo or straw when you pasteurize? Wouldnt this be rich in nutrients and could substitute this water for regular water in say a pf tek for super fast colonization??
