Confusion about Inner Reservoir Tek

Greetings. The PF Tek says that one should wait until pins form invitro before birthing. The Inner Reservoir Tek says to inject water at birth, but makes no mention of letting the cakes pin invitro before birthing.

Can both Teks be combined? My friend has a cake that will pin within 2 or 3 days, and he is waiting for pins to form invitro before he births it. As per the Hippie neglect tek, he loosened the lid and inverted the jar once the colonization was complete, because apparently pins may not form if there is no air exchange. His original plan was to let it pin invitro, then birth it and inject the 10cc of water, and then fruit it, but now he is wondering if he screwed the IRT up.

So when using the Inner Reservoir Tek, are you supposed to inject the water before any pins form (i.e. as soon as the cake is done colonizing), giving the cake more time to absorb the reservoir water, or can you wait until pins form invitro and THEN birth and inject the water?

Since mushrooms grow to fullsize within 3 days, maybe waiting for pins before injecting water and birthing is not enough time for the mushrooms to absorb the reservoir? Next time should he inject water as soon as colonization is complete, and THEN put the cake back in the jar a la Hippie/PF so that pins can form invitro?

I injected my cakes 5 days before pinning began. The results blew me away.

If you want to combine then..Wait untill you see slight pinning...birth then inject. I would think injecting while still in the jars may be a problem. And if your introducing water to the middle of the cake after birthing, I don't see it harming the pins any. There is a TEK using a drinking straw stuck thru the cake and it is filled with H20 when it goes dry throughout the cycle of the shroom and it seems to work well for some. So.... It should work..injecting with pins..IMO. I am no expert so..please wait for other responses.
