 Inner Reservoir Tek - How Often & How Much Water

I've used inner reservoir tek with my last few batches of cakes - with noticeably better results than I had before. I've been shooting water in between flushes, and sometimes even when there is a bit of a flush going on, if they looked/felt dry. I read in another post that someone was shooting water in theirs every day. In addition to the water I shoot in them, I have them directly on the perlite most of the time. I flip them if the bottom end gets a little waterlogged looking, or pop a piece of tinfoil under them if the whole cake looks well-hydrated. I'm giving the cakes appx. 3-4 cc's every 7-10 days or so. I'd be interested in experienced opinions about this tek. Am I shooting enough? Will more help or hurt?

when you first birth them put about 7-10 cc of water in them.
mushrooms are about 90 % water. so that water has to come from some where. after first flush weight the mushrooms, take that weight and mult it by .9 this will give you the amount of water they used. this will give you a good idea how much you need to put back. after a wail you get a good idea just by looking at them. I cant tell you exactly how much to use. too mant varibles. try differents amounts on different cakes and see what works best.

What that little green man is talking about sounds good to me , the MMGG states after some fruiting occasionally inject water to the res , fanaticus site states that after birthing inject 10cc. per cake (probally due to the water lost when in jar colonising) both places arnt very informal , but given this information and what the little green man said , i would think if you combined all of what they were saying should do you just fine , but the green man was way more informal about this subject the the sites for the actuall teks *looks up to the stars and thx that long wite blur of light streaking across the sky* also like the little green man said experiment around with it and see what effects it has and then share your outcomes with us. If anyone else has anything to add to this subject that isnt here allready plz post what ever you got . GL with your cakes yo. peace

when my friend made his cakes he just followed the standard mmgg he didn't make a reservoir or anything. Can he just inject the water into the cakes? should he boil water suck it up into the syringe and wait for it to cool and use that or can he just use bottled water?

I have tryed to inject water into my cakes without the inner reservior. It dosen't work to well. to get the water to your cakes just put them on the perlite. if you were going to inject the water i would use distiled water. don't need to boil. just be clean.

Well, I've been under-watering mine, it seems. I agree - it is hard to get the water into the cakes without the reservoir. But it seems like as the cake gets older, it gets a bit easier. I did inject some older cakes without the reservoir, but I had a lot of trouble with bits of colonized vermiculite clogging the needle.
I don't know what kind of water I should be using, but I've been doing it with boiled & cooled water so far. I've had great results (over several weeks time) and no contams, not even on the older (waiting for possible 5th flush) cakes.
I don't flame and alcohol between cakes, but I do between chambers and/or strains.
Glad I ordered a batch of syringes, it will make it easier for me to find the time to do the boiling and injecting. Working with only 2 spare syringes and 22 cakes was starting to get to me.
If you are new, and having trouble getting the production you want from your cakes, you really should take a look at the tek and give it a try. I think it's roughly doubled my production, because the cakes are lasting a lot longer!!
