We've already been over this... Research grants are necessary. You seemed to have forgotten the last thread where you were shown that companies ain't gonna pour funds into a lot of basic research. A lot of that research is done by universities with public funds.

I guess you just don't like research? advances in medicine? chemistry? biology? Oh wait... you don't even like modern medicine, lol.

I'm a hardcore libertarian and even I realize there are legitimate reasons for state funded research.

Sure, but if you're going to do it bit-by-bit, why would you start with one of the most promising avenues of research for new therapies? There are fields far less deserving that stem cell research. Cut the funding to them first. But that wouldn't placate the religious right...
