I don't care if you call him a marginalized nutlog that is for free and open trade with all countries. Just get the facts about his stances straight is all we are asking.

You stand corrected, now pony up to the table and

eat it. Mmmmmmmm

No.  He continues to put forth ludicrous and utterly unworkable positions that could never happen in the real world and positions himself as a free trade absolutist, all the while opposing any workable free trade agreements on the grounds that they are not free enough.  Bullshit for dumb suckers.

Are you denying that the U.S. government subsidies to some degree a sugar industry within the U.S. that would not exist without these subsidies?

Nope.  And I would like to see them ended.

Further, the Cuba reference was not for proportion of (potential) sugar imports, but rather to show an example of how Ron Paul is not a protectionist/isolationist as he was the only GOP candidate to espouse that position.

Ron Paul is an isolationist nut log for other reasons.  Cuba was and is irrelevant.  Like Ron Paul.  He has accomplished not one fucking thing in all of his time in Congress.

For those of you newer to reading here listen to zappas other lame reasons.

He thinks Paul is an isolationist because Paul doesn't support the Israeli Lobbies, nor our being there playing big brother protectionists for them.

Ron Paul says that Israel has a bad ass and insanely powerful military with nukes to blow the middle east to smitherens and doesn't need our military help. He says that our acting as if it does, is undermining the Israeli's own power in the middle east and getting more middle Easterners pissed off with us for our meddling.

This makes Paul a non-interventionists, not an isolationist.

Correct me if I am wrong on this one Zappa. It seems you also think that anyone that doesn't support nation building and expanding the U.S. empire is an isolationist.

Rome went to shit trying to do that.

If RP is so irrelevant, then why do you spend so much energy trying to make him irrelevant?

Fox news, had to change their whole debate format and bring in a focus group to run their own phony post debate poll, in efforts to make irrelevant the text polling numbers Paul was getting.

Fox news, also eliminated him from the pre NH primary debate, even though he was polling higher then Huckebee and Thomspon in that state, and had raised more money then Huckabee, Thompson and McCain, in effots to make Paul irrelevant.

Seems neocons have been bending over backwards to make Paul irrelevant and they wouldn't have to go to the lengths they do if he truly was.

Ron Paul makes Ron Paul irrelevant and I am no longer going to spend any energy on "Who?"  Unless the stupid fuck runs again in 4 years.  Then I will reopen his asshole.

Then why the Bay of Pigs and the assassination attempts on Castro?

The Soviet Union.  There is a whole lot of "was" in between then and now.

so then I guess vietnam was and is irrelevant too?  That's fine, but I don't think the way you're using hte term is that likely to communicate your point.

Vietnam didn't matter? Afghanistan war didn't matter(pre 9/11)?  All the other countries we were building up to oppose during the cold war didn't matter?

France in WWII didn't matter?

Again, I see what you mean, but I don't think what you're trying to say is communicated in the words you choose.  Seems to me a country that we go to war with and kill and are killed by large margins is not irrelevant.

Jesus fucking Zappa, he was making a point about the sugar industry in Cuba and subsidies of the American sugar industry.  I said Cuba is fuck all compared to Brazil.  And Vietnam is only a fig's fart on the tiger shrimp industry.  Afghanistan is only important, tradewise, for opium.  This was a trade discussion.  Not a discussion about historical military threats/puppets.

I understand.

Despite your claims that you've gone into why you don't like ron paul this is about all you've ever said so far as I can tell:

1.  You are so cool when you make fun of ron paul.
2.  A claim that ron paul's foreign policy is bad.
3.  A claim that Ron Paul states we should trust Bin Laden and take his reasons to be accurate representations of the causes of islamic pissiness towards the US.
4.  Ron Paul is bad cuz of his racist news letters.

This is after reading 2/3 of the first page hits under your names.  We get that you like to call Ron Paul names, and we get that you like to make fun of his idiotic supporters.

What I don't get is you're issue.  Is the above it?

As far as I can tell, of the two issues related complains (2,3) 3 was totally inacurate and only 2 remains as a serious issue.

So what are you complaining about?  In the past you've called him an isolationist but this is the first I've heard of you claiming he's against free trade (before I presumed you were using the isolationist term to refer solely to military noninterventionism).

So is this it?  This is why you don't like Ron Paul?  Do you not like him as a congress man too?

This whole thing seems silly.  The guy has done more to lower the fedreal budget than the vast majority of members he's served with, and continues to vote against stupid bills and speaks for liberty.  And you don't like him because of his foreign policy stances, and that's a deal breaker?

Let me know if I'm missing something here cuz besides your constant claims to the contrary you've never detailed your problems with Paul unless the above is exhaustive.
