FOr loser outkast....FOUNDERS OF ATOMISM
    #927360 -

Who really founded the atomism...

Democritus & Leucippus were two Greek philosophers that first created some of the first theories about the existence of Atoms. Many previous philosophers had stated that space was composed of nothing that it was in fact a void and their explanations for what substance is were never satisfactory. Democritus & Leucippus argued that by saying that substance and space isn?t composed of empty voids of nothing that it is in fact composed of an infinite amount of extremely small particles. They also said that these small particles are indestructible, eternal, and contain no empty space. For their views Democritus & Leucippus received extremely harsh criticism and very little acceptance amongst their colleagues. This is not surprising because of their time period in which many people were filled with superstitions and were set in their ways.

Yes that's right it all started with these two although many argue that the second guy didn't actually exist they have no proof that he didn't and his writings can be found in another guys compilation book, but think about these things arsing in Greece during way back when and today we know that all of the things they found were true except that they were unaware of atomic weights(i hope this is the right word haha cuz i forgot and tried to remember) I just came across all this tonight when I was doing a thing for science and society class I'm really tired but I thought i'd throw this in for Loser Outcast...since he's bored and maybe some of you might find it interesting LOser this will hopefully give you something to ponder if not hopefully it'll give you something to read

i actually believe in this ..think about it...the sun is the nucleus...planets are electrons..moons are neutrons...and just as in an atom everything revolves around the sun or nucleus...the galaxy is expanding because of its coming together, the atoms are joining like 2 hydrogen atom is drawn toward an oxygen atom and so forth..makes a hell of a lot sense to me anyway...think about this...a nuclear atom has a half life over millions of years before they become non nuclear and dormant..the sun is a start..it will shine for the rest of our lifetime but it wont shine forever...example plutonium atom= some other galaxys star? maybe and if nuclear warfare might one day destroy our planet..how many planets have we already destroyed?

but those planets are going to be "reanimated" in quite some time... flora and fauna that has never been seen... man our solar system will be quite some fun!

Where did you come up with this? How can anyone say something like this for sure? It doesn't seem like a really well thouhgt-out idea.

also: they were wrong about atoms being "indestructible, eternal, and contain no empty space"... but at least they were on the right track

It is true they were wrong about a few things but isn't that all part of the scientific method make mistake after mistake till you get it right and to even contemplate that these Early Greeks were thinking in this manner truly gives me a greater found respect for them. They couldn't even see these things and had the proof the presented at the time was of a very small nature but they were still deticated to their thoughts..........and atomic theory in 400 B.C. is like a theory on an actual working time machine.

Aristotle when properly read, understood, and applied clears up most on philosophy's supposed 'mysteries'.

Cheers,
