the recycling of atoms
    #2462965 - 03/23/04 06:38 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

ever hear the term "you are what you eat"? i think there is definite truth to that...

say i eat a burger, which consists of beef, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.... my genetic blueprint (DNA) tells these atoms where to go to build/rebuild my body.

the beef i ate was part of a cow, which ate vegetion, which derived nutrients from the soil, the nutrients being particles from the earth which were once part of another living thing... on and on back into infinity.

so in essence, our bodies are made of recycled molecules which were once part of trillions, gazillions of vegetation, animals, even people, recycling back into the beginning of the universe. and when we die, and our bodies decompose, our molecules will continue to be recycled in this manner forever... maybe some of us shroomerites will eventually be a part of the same tree, or person, or desert. and when this solar system is destroyed, we will all be together in the nebulous expanse of space until creation begins anew.

look up into the night sky... we are all made of stars.... and we are all immortal.

Nothing cannot be created without something being destructed first.

Destruction is creation.

was it shiva who is the god of creation and destruction?

day, night. yin, yang.

indeed, EVERY coin has two sides.

I don't know much about any religions other then Christianity.

I don't believe in following a religion fully, you should make beliefs for yourself.

Whatever you believe is ultimately true.

i am a christian myself, but respect all religions and every person's own experiences. However, this post was intended to be of a scientific nature... purely about molecules. just as they say energy can't be created nor destroyed, only transformed... the molecules in our universe are not created nor destroyed, just recycled.

remember, everything started out as hydrogen or helium, and most of everything still is...

so in essence, our bodies are made of recycled molecules which were once part of trillions, gazillions of vegetation, animals, even people, recycling back into the beginning of the universe.

Probably not "recycled" molecules but atoms or smaller particles. Most molecules don't last that long.  Even the particles in most atoms change(quantum mechanics model)

recycling back into the beginning of the universe.

Atoms didn't exist In the beginning of the universe. Electrons, protons, neutrons and photons were all seperated. We now think that the first atoms were created 400.000 years after the big bang. First stars after 300 million years. We now (think we) live 13.7 billion years after the big bang

Interesting things to think about IMO!

Damn zero, you beat me to it :smirk:

You're here because you know something.
What you know you can't explain,
But you feel it;
You've felt it your entire life.
That there's something wrong with the world.
You don't know what it is, but it's there....
Like a splinter in your mind...
Driving you mad.
