1g makes 50ml, so 250g=12.5litres
depends on the size of petri, but I usually get ~20per pint of agar using 100mm disposable petris, so let's say roughly 200-250 or so?

Hehe...
my calculation is as follows:
20 g agar per liter of medium. I pour 40 dishes with 1 liter.
250 g for 12.5 liter->500 dishes
