What would ? need to add to this VVV to make agar for petri dishes??







Should ? follow this recipe??

Malt Extract Agar (MEA) solution that is shipped to me in a powderform. Mix the agar solution according to the directions:

-Mix 50 grams of MEA (7 Tablespoons) for each liter of water.
-Autoclave (pressure cook/can) at 15psi for 45 minutes.
-Allow the MEA solution to cool to 150 degrees before pouring .

Yes follow directions , if you want to make less , just divide the recipe in equal parts . :cool:

So does the malt extract need agar also or not VVVV??

These recipes are designed for agar maintenance of Psilocybe species. All media have a near-neutral pH and should be sterilized for twenty to thirty minutes at 15 psi pressure. 500 ml of medium will pour around 20 petri dishes. Using a different medium from time to time will prevent the culture getting used to one medium.

Malt Extract Agar (MEA)
10 grams light malt extract
9 grams agar agar
500 ml potable or distilled water

Yes you will need to add agar to that.
MEA contains malt extract and agar, you could also add some yeast extract to make MYA
