What is you thoughts on this fraud business claiming to be a church, but destroying its members lives, and stealing their money?
And if there are  scientologist ( I doubt it.)  on here please explain to me how you can follow a story book writers version of evil lord Xenu, sole catchers, and all the other apparent bullshit this cult leader brainwashed you into believing, while his follower take your money, and feed on your fears, and doubts?

If there are others out there who feel like i do, please express your thoughts on this matter.

:batman:

yeah.. the same applies here

I laugh at anyone who tries to compare a religion that has been around for two thousand years to the writings of a science-fiction author.

You know something funny?
There's not shit to back up anything that Scientology teaches.

Most of the things in the Bible though (except things which are obviously metaphors like creation in a seven day period) can be backed up with archaeological evidence and ancient government records from places like Egypt and the surrounding areas.

One is based on lots of things that actually happened.
The other is based on nothing.
One you don't have to pay to be a part of.
The other you pay thousands.

That doesn't even make sense.

And a church wouldn't ban you for doing drugs.  They may ban you for acting like an asshole, running around screaming "I do Drugs!" when everyone is quiet listening to the minister, making a fool of yourself in front of a crowd.

Good to know you think an online organization is so cool though.

Why?
Exodus can be backed up.  The Babylonian captivity can be backed up.  The ark on top of Mount Ararat, and the new evidence showing the Mediterranean got flooded as shit thousands of years ago backs the flood story up.

Pick almost anything from the Bible, and there is evidence to back it up.
Stories like Adam and Eve, and creation may be just metaphors.
But think of how it would seem to primitive man with no scientific knowledge if God, or aliens, or drugged visions showed him how the universe came to be.  He might describe it in a series of metaphorical days.

Go read the first part of Genesis.  It seems like what ancient man would make of watching stars and planets coalesce from dust, and then the land and sea separating on earth, and then life coming about, to be topped off by the evolution of man.

If you don't take every part of the Bible literally, its a pretty good read.

sure, a lot of it can be backed up... sort of. Like the flood, yes, but confined to only a small area, not the whole world. Little things like that, sure.

Women cant teach

men cant "trim the corners of their beards"

stoning your kids for not believing

on and on and on

It was probably the shit at one time

but come on, it has turned into something outrageous, if not dated to say the least.

keep it to your church, dont go out on missions trying to recruit people and 'spread the word' thats called brain washing

plus your motivating people by pain and pleasure, avoiding hell, and getting heaven. If the christian god needs to dangle heaven in my face to get me to join.... and threaten me with hell....

Not if you go to my church. At my church you either have to be on drugs or had to have used drugs, been molested or raped, poor, gay or bi, have had an abortion or promoted abortion to a women, drink or have been a drinker or done time in a correctional facility.

If you can't meet at least one of those criteria, you're out :crankey:

All of the legalisms you quoted have been purposely twisted or are from the old testament, so they don't apply any more.

Hell is a made up place. Get on some hebrew/greek translations with some Jewish history and that is apparent. Hell at worst is a place that those who are hate filled are exterminated, and why not?  Heaven would be hell to them, so it's actually mercy. But the whole eternal damnation thing is extra biblical and a hateful idea.  Either way, love based on fear is not love, and out of God's character. More like human manipulation.

The cross is a symbol of God's love to his children. Where do the scriptures ever have Christ threatening anyone except the crooked religious leaders who were harming the very people they had pledged to uplift, and those who ignore the poor? You'd think if God's message was one of wrath He would have let loose a few times wouldn't ya. But he didn't, it was a message of love.

Now if you'll please excuse me, I gotta go back to working on my plans to burn down religious institutions in America

Thanks for helping me out there.  People on these boards go so crazy hating on Christianity, that they forget Jesus was a lot like the people on these boards.
He hung out with criminals, prostitutes, spoke out against authority and told people to love one another.  He went into the wilderness to contemplate.
And in the end, he ended up dying for a cause he believed in.  Killed by teh Jewz...

Why do the people of this board hate this guy so much?
People have twisted his message since then, but that doesn't make Christianity anything like Scientology.

Sodom and Gomorrah, anyone?

Jesus preached a paradoxical message of love and hate.  You cannot ignore his condemnation of sinners, or his preaching that all those who disobey God will be cast into hellfire on the Day of Judgement.

Matthew 5:20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scirbes and Pharisees, yo uwill never enter the kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 5:22 But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgement; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire.
Matthew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that yo ulose on of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
Matthew 7:13 Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
Matthew 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Matthew 7:26 And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.
Matthew 8:12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.
Matthew 10:14 And if any one will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town.  Truly, I say to you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgement for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.
Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

This I got from just skimming 5 pages of Matthew; there are countless other quotes from the majority of the New Testament which show the persecutorial, wrathful, judgemental, and violent side of Jesus.

Please, read the Bible before you make blanket statements.

I don't see whats wrong about punishing the wicked.

People twist Old Testament verses to make it sounds like "fags" are wicked.

But, you can see Jesus was referring to corrupt religious and government officials in the very first verse you posted.

Looking at all the corrupt businessman and politicians we have, I wish someone would bring a sword.  Rain down righteous vengeance upon those that impose unjust laws, throw innocents in jail, abuse their positions of power.

What the hell is wrong with any of these verses?

Be wicked and I will destroy you.  Be kind and righteous in your heart and actions and you will be rewarded.

Thats how life should always be.

Also, please consider the context of the verses in the Bible before you make blanket claims using verses with little context.

The problem is in the definition of wicked.

Most religious people think pot smokers are wicked and should be punished.

And they think people who grow mushrooms should be put in jail for a very, very long time.

Then the problem is with the individual people, not with the Bible.

It was man that twisted religion so that people would think drugs were evil and wicked.
God and Jesus had no part in this.

In the Bible, Jesus railed against condemning people, against judging people, and against corruption.  He never broached the topic of drug use.
