casinos, testament to human stupidity?
    #8004641 - 02/10/08 01:18 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I keep getting this ad which made me start to wonder cuz I dont really understand how ppl can play at casinos, its common sense the only way they can survive is by you loosing and yet ppl flock to it supposedly knowing their going to loose, wth?, its like a testament to human stupidity I dont get it

or their just comfortable being insane, there are way better thrills to spend your money on no?

People go because there is an excitement and "rush" that comes from gambling. The thought that you could win big.

Unfortunately, the objective, statistical data say that in the long run you will lose. This is what prevents me from going to casinos. This is what I don't understand about people who go to casinos very frequently and all the time. Do these people lack the intelligence to realize that they will lose money? or do they not care?

Once you begin to win, even if you are winning your own money back, you will be removed from the casino based on the opinion that you are "using an unfair advantage" to win.

The OP is correct, whoever gambles at a casino is sick, or stupid.

It's just a tax on the stupid.

I'm 100% in favor of building more casinos.

Put the fuckers everywhere.

Everytime ive gone into a casino ive always came out with a grand more than i came in with. Casinos make money from slot machines and other rigged electronic games. Go play some black jack at a table. Some people will loose and more people will win. Hell all you have to do is play safe like the dealer is always gonna bust. Cause more than likely they will. Where you can sit at 14 and still win. or if you have 11 you can double down and guarantee not to bust. There was one time that i lost all but 5 dollars at black jack but turned that 5 dollars into 700 dollars at that table before leaving. Also you will notice that the more you win the more alcohol the waiters will try to push on you, especially the booz on the house ;] Thats how they get people to loosen up with their money and loose it faster. Dont drink and gamble. Ive never been kicked out of a casino but everytime i start winning decent amounts or start bidding higher amounts 1 or 2 security guys will show up behind the dealer and watch. Its rather hard to cheat at black jack when you dont even touch the cards at all.

I'm assuming you don't spend money on any other form of entertainment.

You make it sound easy, you are either a very good player, lucky, both or just lying.

Common sense tells me if it where that easy to win plenty ppl wouldnt need jobs and just make a living off of casinos.

What you say just doesnt add up.

Come on guys, not everyone who gambles is desperate and stupid. Every year millions of normal people go to Vegas, drop a few hundred bucks and have a great time anyway.

People who think it is the path to riches are probably fooling themselves though.

If by normal you mean unimaginative tourists with nothing better to do then yeah, I guess they are normal. The machines practically have a sign on them that says "please flush your money down this toilet".

Stereotyping a little here but its probably the same kind of ppl who go to the cinema every weekend to watch popcorn flicks cuz they dont really know how to have fun.

dealers

LOL I just asked my bro if hes been to a casino and this was his reply

Quote:

in Niagra Falls, I just looked around.. it seemed like such a bizarre environment.. flashing lights, sounds going off like crazy from all directions, while you have these humans just sitting in a chair in front of machines just staring at them, and pulling a lever every 10 seconds

inserting their money over and over..

If your life is run by statistical data, I guess you need to stay in doors. Don't want to get west nile. Stay in a confined germ free area, you may be at risk for over 500 million kinds of bacteria.

Gambling with luck is a lot different then gambling with skill.

New gamblers go and are trying with their luck. People who are regulars will go in and sit down at a texas hold em table and win 10 grand.

I find it kind of funny everyone who tries to defend the casinos only mentions when ppl win big, how many times did these regulars have to loose before they won?

fail comment is fail, statistical data will show we wont get west nile, we wont get very sick in the open and that most bacteria we come in contact with wont harm us

if you run your life by statistical data you will ALWAYS be at the top, it reminds me of this online poker champion who used a computer to deduct all the possibilities before he made his move, he won several thousand dollars and then went to a real tournament where he learned to memorize most of what the computer did and won a million dollars, I saw it on Daily Planet a show here in Canada from Discovery channel

I went to shreveport the weekend before last after preparing all my bills. Then i could lose it all without remorse. I took $5800 and brought back $8400.

Gambling is fun. If you don't like it, stay home and shutup.

Why not go to the beach? Why not a club? Why a casino only and if you don't go to a casino you have to stay home and shut up?

You took 5800 and left with 8400:smirk: yea

I dunno know how, but my mom goes to the casino to win, and she always does. Usually, she wins at roulette....

I have no idea how... But, she never loses...

She bets big, because to her, unless she comes out 1 grand ahead, it's not winning...

Streak of luck?
