Watch it a bunch of times. From what I got out of it is that there seems to be a bunch of completely different stories if you rearrange the chapters. Or, one goddamn really confusing, good one.

It's one of the most enigmatic movies I've ever seen, definitely in my top 5 all-time. I'm afraid to watch it again and ruin the initial impression it left on me years ago. I never read up on it, or want to "know what its really about".


But A+ movie, for sure.

Interesting movie to say the least.  I could, of course, be entirely wrong but I have a simple theory on this movie.  I think that it's just missing one part of the movie which ties everything together in some way, but this part can be varied and changes the overall structure entirely.  In other words, it is 95% complete.  But this other 5% that completes it is essential for comprehension and, like a chemical formula, changes the outcome depending on its constitution.  Whatever, I do not think what you see is the entire movie, even if the missing part was never made by Lynch.

I haven't seen this one.

But I think people read too much into David Lynch.


For instance, "Naked Lunch" is really just about being homosexuals and junkies.

If that 95% complete thing were true it'd be cool if Lynch held a contest for who could come up with the most interesting final 5% of the script. And then release a special edition dvd with some of his favorites.

Watch while tripping.  It'll make sense in some twisted way that you never thought possible before.

That, and impromptu lesbian sex scenes are always quality.  I much preferred this movie to Lost Highway (even if the latter had Rammstein in the soundtrack.)

Im sure there are multiple ways of explaining it. With various levels of confusion intact. But the dream theory seems to make the most direct sense (most of the movie being a dream of the jealous, unsuccessful actress)

its an awesome movie

It is all out of order.  And two thirds of it is a dream.

Essentially she hires a hit on her manipulative lesbian hollywood lover....feels guilty and dreams that the lover got away...and wakes up feeling guilty.  The dream is the first 2/3rds, the predream and post dream are mixed togetehr at the end.

What makes it awesome is the way it shows how dreams take random people/places/images/hopes from waking life and incorporates them into the dream in weird ways.
