perlite contams?

While fanning my terrerium I noticed the perlite had turned a little orange in some places, should I be worried?

If so, what the fuck am I supposed to do to get rid of it without harming my cakes?

I was kind of hoping to get an answer BEFORE my cakes get contaminated. Anyone have experience with this?

Swish the perilite around a bit with your finger and take a smell. The contammed perlite/water I had had a strong sulfur with some sour aftertones kind of stink to it.
It murdered 9 cakes and 2 casings.

Usualy when using perlite its best to mix some hydrogen peroxide in with the water you use to wet the perlite.
Now you already have a problem, the best thing to do IMO is spray the perlite all over with neat (3 or 6% store bought) peroxide. This should take care of any contams (hopefully). You may want to take the cakes out during this sterilisation.

I put some watered down h2o2 on the golden brown parts, but your Idea (DMT) sounds better. The only thing is I dont really have a place to put the cakes at the moment. I'm pretty sure I figured out what the problem is: I sterilized the terrerium but forgot to sterilize the perlite.

I just got back from cleaning up my terrerium a bit.
First I wiped everything down in my bathroom with clorox wipes. Then I put some water and H2O2 in a spray bottle (about 70/30) and sprayed my whole bathroom so that the peroxide water was over everything and in the air. Then I brought my terrerium in and took of the lid and set it on the counter and started to move my cakes from the foam cooler to the top of the lid, I have 10 cakes, 5 PES and 5 EQ (I have 2 more EQ cakes but decided to wait a while and case them incase I loose these to contams). Then when the cakes were out I started spraying all of the perlite but I spayed more on the golden brown parts. When I was done spaying the perlite/walls I started moving cakes back to the terrerium.
Thats when I noticed my first pins on the bottom of some of my hawaiian cakes :ooo: :smile: :laugh: :grin:
Awwwww, they're so cute and small  :crazy:
Anyway after I moved the cakes back I sprayed the inside of the lid because I was meaning to do that sometime.

Now all I can do is wait for my pins and keep the humidity/ light/ temp/ fanning up as usuall and see what turns up.
