Bad Subb reaction?

Well, I meant to ask this sooner but here goes.

Exactly a week ago, I dosed a bunch of subbs and went to Ann Arbor. I ended up getting insanely sick, I threw up in an arcade and pretty much all the way back to my car... I was leveled for probably 2/3 hours, then all of the sudden got better.

Now before you question my taxonomy, I'm 100% sure they were subbs, I've picked em/taken em before, and there is no question. No foes, but maybe a couple casters, but they're no big deal.

Now, I'm not exactly sure how much I took. I ground them up and put them in 00 gel capsules. I've taken them before, and it usually seemed like I needed around 25 to get me going. However, I packed these ones down real good (with a chopstick, just like Weilliiiiii said to), they were packed way better than the others ive eaten, im still new to the whole capsule thing. And before anyone starts telling me I'm stupid... I'm no novice with mushrooms, just havn't had much lately, and I'm a big guy, I don't flip out easily... it all seemed innocent enough at the time.

I havnt had much psilocybin in my system lately, and I think I just took WAY too much. I never had a reaction like this before, and I know it wasnt a poisonous shroom, because number one, I got sick immediately and got better immediately. number two, i know what a goddamned subb looks like!

Anyone got any ideas? I've never known anyone that ate too many actives, so I don't know the symptons. All I know is it was extremely unpleasant, and I'm sort of weary about the rest of my subb supply...

Anything you guys could tell me would be much appreciated.

Also, psilocybin and coprine don't have any bad reactions with each other, do they? Reason being, I've eaten some shaggy manes lately... i doubt it's harmful, but i'm just wondering...

if you suspect that you ate more than you usualy eat and you haven't had any for a while, i would say that is all it is...

however i didn't read the last part about the coprine before, i don't know about that anyway :shrug:

Oh, let me clarify, I didn't eat the shaggy manes then, I ate them today! Coprine is a chemical in Coprinus sp. that is said to react badly with alcohol, but nothing to worry about other than that. I don't think it would react with psilocybin, but ya never know...

I should also add that per the suggestions on this site, I read all the symptoms of mushroom poisoning in the Audubon guide, so I was fairly sure it wasn't hospital time... I just didnt remember the psilocybin part too much, because all of those symptoms sounded desirable... you know...

Did you trip, or just get sick? Shaggy manes don't even contain coprine, do they?

I tripped for a little while, an hour, kept coming up, then it got to be too much and I started getting fatigued, then hot, then barfy. It was cool for a little while.

I think Shaggy Manes contain coprine. I mean, they are a Coprinus sp.

I've definitely heard of this species occasionally making people "fatigued". It's not understood why. Did you pick any from poop? With other shrooms ? Did you wash them? Bacteria or mold? Sounds like a chemical in the shrooms, if you got sick and better so rapidly.

As far as I know, it's coprinus atramentarius "tippler's bane" that makes people sick with booze.

They were growing in fresh sod, no, I don't wash them, I dry them under a fan for at least 24 hrs and then throw them in a tupperware with a bag of desiccant. I've taken some from this same location and didn't get sick... I'm pretty sure I just took way too many.

Yeah I would think 25 capsules would be way way too much dried material...think about it...all those caps dissolving at once and then all of the dried mushrooms instantly expanding/mingling with stomach acid at the same time...it was probably a lot like the illness you get after taking vitamins on an empty stomach.

I didn't take them all at once, but still... I see your point. Though I should point out, not proudly, that I used to take a ton of Coricidin, and that's not a ridiculous amount for that particular drug... other than taking it at all... hey, I was young...

ive gotten sick from mushrooms
particularly subbs

may i ask what substrate you found them on?

if they were growing in a lawn or woodchip/planter bed, they may of came with a nice dosing in pesticide, insecticide, or even fungicide.
all of which might make you puke and feel dizzy.

if they were growing from composting horse poop, there may have been some nasty things on them still.

i vote pesticides or too many too quick.
you might also try a tea next time?

I have had this happen many times when taking massive doses of weilii, i feel the same way but once i puke a few times im all good.

Good, very reassuring... I think... only I puked for like 2 hours straight. I wanted to either get better or die.

But I guess I'll risk it again, no harm no foul, eh?
