Growing on logs, stumps help

Im use to the pf tek and would like to grow on logs or stump. Iv seen it dome on the mushroom cultavator and on this site. I would like to know if you can grow Psilocybe cyanescens on  log or stump using dowels that has been colonized by spawn? where can I get the stumps or logs that are used and what type of wood am I looking for best results? alder wood, oak tree?

Im pretty sure you cant grow them on a log or stump...Your gonna need wood chips.  Alder chips should work fine.

I've seen them growing from small logs that were surrounded by sawdust, but in my experience, you'll do much better on colonized sawdust/woodchips mixed into an outdoor bed.  Pf cakes can be used as spawn to inoculate the woodchip/sawdust substrate.  Good luck.

So they can grow in logs it just easier and you have more success using sawdust/chips.  :thumbup:  I just figured they wouldnt grow in stumps or logs like Shittakes or Oysters.

Has anyone tried this method or herd of any success? And what tek should a new guy like me that's never grown on anything besides brown rice mix ? thanks
