We need a cultivation wiki

Okay, in case you haven't noticed, there is a TON of information on the shroomery, and it's not entirely accessible without intensive research. Many of the teks are great, but people easily get confused about substituting ingredients or combining different methods (ex, a tek detailing spawning grain-X to poo, but poo is pasteurized with method-A. "But what about using grain-Y with method-B?" wonders the n00b).

All this information needs to be RADICALLY reorganized into a format that is noob friendly and facilitates blending of methods depending on what materials and limitations people have to work with.

So of course I don't want to just bitch about this. I'm seriously willing to participate in a wiki project that will index all the information relating to different steps of growing and will allow n00bs to make a "recipe" for their grow before they start out. Thus avoiding frantic searching of various and irrelevant methods in the middle of a grow.

Any takers?

I had no problems. And I learned everything I know through Shroomery mostly.

It seems as though there have been a few attempts to do this sort of thing, but none have materialized, or weren't successful.

www.mushroomwiki.com is defunct for some reason (weird error message)

http://www.tccwiki.com/ seems like a good space to do it in. The site doesn't seem like it's gotten much attention at all.

So are you in Groomies? If so that's two so far...

well me too. But I don't give most others that much credit. If you take a look around this forum, about half the posts could be avoided if there were a way to clearly combine teks.

I Agree! I think that would be the best. I think it should be a separate site.
Mikiwush aka wikimush or mushroowiki sounds pretty cool.
Also a listing of sponsors with websites along with a rating.
No terms critisized and no knowledge banned. There could be linking to specific threads here and on other forums, with adaptations to the glossary on shroomery to include a link, effectively linking the wiki site to the shroomery site as per request/edit.
Maybe it would be better if we just collectively gather all the knowledge and teks we all have written and link them up in a sort of database.
I can be a writer - I spend virtually all of my time (24/7 - minus transit time to methadone clinic and occasional nod-offs) on the internet looking for things to do anyway.
We definately have the manpower, but what about the structure? And how are we going to create revenue for the bandwidth/storage? Maybe the larger sponsors would pay some fee to be included in some of the wiki-terms: ie, "A scalpel could be used to cut a certain sizeable layer off the outside stem of a mushroom. The inside is the most sterile, void of any contaminants. This makes it the most ideal for transferring from one jar to another, as long as sterility permits." Then at the bottom where links and refrences are, we could give a list of sites elaborating on the subject along with a list of suppliers currently stocking scalpals... (although wiki-sites are generally advertisement free, some could pay to be listed as "Favorable")
I honestly have no idea where they get their money to host such a generic; yet useful site.

Anyway - I know I have problems finding forum topics about things which are not included in the general topic teks `n such. If there was a way to link words to certain posts or topics: that would be deemable a 'self wiki'.
But it would have to be user-editable, with a larger storage space to save every single edit - In case some angry police officer or dea agent or mommy who's daughter died from a poisonous mushroom can't delete the most valuable information.

I am really willing to work on something like this with someone.
I would really like to include some of the medical evidence in this wiki, not just about how it benefits certain problems people have such as PTSD, and terminally ill patients who get a boost of faith from a chemical and are not so afraid to buy that million dollar extra life insurance policy for their kids...but a list of what receptors it binds to and what chemicals in the brain it modifies and regulates when induced bla bla bla. Maybe a couple of user-submitted trip reports and a few MP3s from some very special people like Terrence McKenna. Cultivation videos (Because most of the youtube vids really suck, IMO people should be talking about/showing how to take care of pest infestations, how to deal with mold infections, different casing methods, not just time lapse videos), And not just on one species - Include as many as possible.
I know some of the dutch are pissed now that their mushroom-lifes are now over, so let's give them a taste of what most of us are still missing out on. Each and every site out there has its own perk. Erowid has a way with a massive collection of drugs and what each and every one is about - with snapshots of certain chemistry-related functions (which makes it a really big hit among chemistry students I'm sure) What can the mushwiki do for you?

well that's why I was saying that TCCwiki.com would be a good place. It already exists, our participation would probably bring in more donations to it, and it will allow for other information to be posted (medical, scientific, cultural, etc).

True. I feel like shroomerites are afraid to admit that something needs to be done, because that implies that somebody has to take responsibility for an overwhelming project.

well, I suppose I'll try starting a cultivation page on TCCwiki.com and see how it goes from there. (Build it and they will come).

curious.. how are you planning on making a page like this? PHP? if you need to use a mysql database, I have a server that you are more than welcome to use.. I actually have 5 webhosting servers.. I dont know if that will help..
