Alcohol adds to contamination!?

I need help! My cake was getting a little fungi on it so I cut off the infected area and dabbed some alcohol on the area. But now its even more infected!

Why is this?? It seems the alcohol actually made more fungi.

The contamination you can see is usually on the tip of the iceberg. The contamination could be growing inside the cake where you never see it.
