Nice work. I posted a question on here about two weeks ago asking about commercial compost. I had no idea someone was doing an experiment on it. Thanks for the info. Peace, Wildman

I've got another little experiment in the works with the same compost. I'll keep you posted. ------------------ "Not all drugs are good... some are great."

I got it at the local Home Depot. We had this discussion a while back, and I think that this brand may be local to Colorado. The company is listed as being in Arvada, CO. The brand is Permagreen. This difference between this brand and a lot of the others is that this compost has never been used to grow mushrooms, so the nutrients are still intact. I pasteurized it in quart jars in a steam bath at 140'-170' for about an hour. I tried pateurizing some in a pillowcase later, and the resulting compost was extremely wet and smelled like the septic tank on a motorhome. If you can get this brand at your local Shroom Depot, I highly recommend it. I can't recommend any other brands because I have no experience with them. Compost that has already been used to grow mushrooms would probably not be very useful.------------------ "Not all drugs are good... some are great."
