for an 1/2 pint jars i'd use just a couple cc's
you could inoculate dungh with it yes...but using grain spawn works better

One good recipe for 1/2 pints is:

100cc Water (Approx. 1/2 full)
1 teaspoon Karo Corn Syrup (Clear if you can find)

PC for 20 min with lid like 1/4 turn loose

Innoculate when cooled through 1 hole that has been taped, then retape
Incubate
ShaaaaZam...
