Moe's Trash Mutha Fuckin' Can Method Question

This is for Moe, or anyone else that can answer it. I am going to do the shit can tek, but I was wondering if I need 40lbs of dry shit, or bagged moist shit. I am going to my friends parents farm this weekend , and they said I could take as much shit off the field as I wanted. I also was wondering how long it takes approx. for the first flush, and how long, approx. it goes for. The reason I ask is cuz in lessm than 2 months, winter will be here in MN. Thanks!

First off, I am not familiar with Moe's Can Method, but my buddy has had some experience with poo.

1) Dry poo is better, any of the urine that was in the poo has been leeched out, more so than the wet poo, plus wet poo is kinda shitty to work with.

2) Fruiting should occur anywhere from 5-10 days (depending upon conditions such as humidity, and air exchange) after the poo is completely colonised. The colonisation of the poo depends upon many factors 1) spawn to poo ratio, higher spawn to poo ratio, more innoculation points=faster colonisation time 2) water content of poo, usually the wetter the poo, the slower the colonisation time, and the higher risk of contamination problems... just to name a few.

Well I cant help you much on the tech question, but you better start your jars today if you live in minnesota, its going to get too cold in a month or so, or less with our damn weather. Oh if your using fresh cow crap make sure to leach it first with water.

if you're pressed for time, maybe the trash can is too big-it will take a long time to colonize. you could just use a container for potted plants with some shit in it.

It is not entirely true that "composted" is less benificial to growing shrooms , plants etc.... In fact composting speeds up break down of many nutrients that are not soluable for immediate growth , also certain enzymes that make happy vegitation awaken during heating process . It also removes many competitors especially bugs , nematodes etc.........
But , those that work harder to grow to full size in "natural" mediums are stronger .
That is personal opinon based on the "Strongest will survive thru natural selection " Charles Darwin gotta love the guy . :cool:
