air tight lid for terranium
    #862180 - 09/03/02 04:55 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

im having a hard time finding a way to keep the lid of my aqarium air tight...the problem is that im working in very crammed conditions and i dont have enough room to create a proper lid like www.fanaticus.com recommends. i was thinking of just taping some saran wrap to the top but it would seem like a pain in the ass everytime i would have to fan i would have to remove the tape and then retape...any suggestions?

Doesn't need to be completely air tight. It gets humid enough with the saran wrap placed over the top loosely then but the lid that came with your box placed over the saran wrap. I stay at about 97% humidity with this set up and perlite at the bottom. Hope that helps.

well, as already been said, it doesnt have to be airtight. but if you want to do it, it wont hurt. [remember to fan though, otherwise other molds will soon appear!]

i think that you can glue some rubber or some wettex on the rim of the box, so when you close the lid, the rubber will tighten the box like hell! of course my idea will work only if you do have a lid, not saran wrap for lid...

terraRium

A bucket with plastic foil over it works great too.
