Hey, is heavy music scary when tripping?  I really like metal, but I'm worried that I'll have a bad trip from it.

For we are as tree-trunks in the snow.  Apparently they are merely resting on the surface of the snow, and a little push would be enough to knock them over.  No, that's not the case for they are firmly attached to the ground.  But see, even that is only seemingly the case.

No Samsa, it will not be scary unless you're already having a bad trip. If you like metal, it wont bother you a bit on shrooms, it'll just sound crazier. I'm a big metalhead myself and I trip to crazy shit like Warbringer, Behemoth, Malhavoc, Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Gorgoroth, etc.

Nile?  That'd be intense.  I remember once when I was stoned my friend put on Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes by Anaal Nathrakh (amazing song, by the way), and it scared the living shit out of me.

You may even find that you just won't enjoy metal while tripping (not because it's scary, but because it just doesn't 'hit the spot'). I'd say experiment ... I have liked music while tripping that I 'normally' wouldn't enjoy very much.

Heh, don't worry, you wont get scared, it's really not all that intimidating if you enjoy it, but the guy above me is right, you may just not like it while you're tripping.. I see you're a Finntroll fan, too, try listening to Jaktens Tid while tripping, you'll laugh your ASS off!

That happens anyway.  I think Finntroll is the only band that I can laugh at, and really appreciate at the same time.  The chants during the chorus of Fiskarens Fiende (Hey!) are hilarious, and awesome at the same time.  DragonForce is hilarious when stoned, what about that?

I have a CD i picked up at wal-mart for 5 bucks called Spirit Flutes. I found it in the candle section, and it features about 15 songs of psuedo-native-american flute music; absolutely amazing when voyaging on huasca and shrooms

No, don't even bother with Dragonforce, I don't condone them even when sober, they're so fake.. When you're tripping, they can be amusing for a little bit, but it just gets annoying.. You need to try listening to some melodic black metal, like Negura Bunget, big mind blower on shrooms. =) Here's their myspace music page http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=51017098

I've never really gotten into Black Metal.  Behemoth's early albums are about as far as I've gone.  I like epic, passionate music, (Panopticon by Isis is amazing), but just something about the elitism of BM has driven me off.  I'll check out that band, though.

Elitism? Huh.. I just like metal, period, but I can't stand studio fakes.. Try these guys out though, they sound like they're up your ally, except for the silly costumes and stage presence, they're like a poor man's Gwar with a ridiculous twist. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=157026605

Sir Optimus Prime and Duke of Drummington?
This stuff is like cheesy melodeath... which is good!
I like the chant choruses.

Oh yeah, whats everyones opinion on Meshuggah (Obzen was brilliant in my opinion), and would it work on a trip?

Glad you like them, they're one of my favorite bands. They're music is great and outweighs their silly image, and Meshuggah is awesome, 'nuff said. =)

Music and interactive visuals.

http://www.insected.com/

I just found this interactive site through a link from the World Psychedelic Forum recently held in Basel, Switzerland (www.psychedelik.info/index_2_eng.html). The music from this artist is one part of a larger guiding presentation called "Can you pass the Bardo Test?

Take a surf through the links and get into the other bands as well.

Cheers

EAP

definitely tool. all of lateralus is good, third eye from aenema is a must for acid, and rosetta stoned from 10,000 days is perfect for shrooms, however they both are great on both drugs. on saturday i listened to rosetta stoned on acid and i understood nearly all the words, it was fuckin weird. i heard both sound tracks seperately. and on mushrooms once it had great meaning, when it said "you are the chosen one, the one who will deliver the message..." it started snowing and the stop light i was walking up to changed right in sync with that and it fucked with my head. the song lateralus is fucking epic with or without psychadelics.
enough about tool...
pink floyd's song echoes from meddle, king crimson, the beatles, led zepplin, hendrix all really good.
oh and if you get the chance, watch the music video to the chemical brothers' salmon dance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVu2cX0jEYk
