That Violent Femmes song "I dig the black girls" is way cool when tripping because of all those bizarre instument sounds which go for ages in the middle of it.

Quote:
you want a good tripping album, try "Pure Guava" by WEEN. they're the shit, and it's one of their older records...1993...definately recorded under the influence & best for. ALL Ween shit is good, but if ur D/Ling songs, search "Pure Guava" &/or Ween...you wont regret it.
Oh man that brings back memories of a night tripping and listening to Ween's "GodWeenSatan" and laughing uncontrollably through every song. Check that one out if you can!

Yes, as said above... Tool, Tool, Tool, Tool, and when you're done with that, try some Tool.
Oh, Pink Floyd is also superior to anything else out there, but that's not really "modern" rock.

I am surprised that nobody mentioned "Up" from Peter Gabriel (2003)! This is his best album ever.
(For those who don't know him, he was the signer from genesis... )

This isn't new but some really bizarre stuff that could prove to be hard to find is uriah heep's 'demons and wizards' this is one of the craziest albums on mushrooms or acid. Also try robert hunter's 'prominent rider', 'yessongs' by yes any pink floyd, some jethro tull is good. I don't really listen to modern music though

Saying that you like older stuff i assume that you definitely love Pink Floyd already, so i recommend Anathema latest ones.
I also second the guy who recommended Portishead. If you want to try some trippy electro stuff i recommend Haujobb. Cheers!
