The Flaming Lips-Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (this cd is the shit, tripping or not) Incubus-Science (not new in any way but I think its the best incubus cd hands down) And if you are in a daring mood listen to some Primus

I'll give a vote for Frank Black-probably not for everyone.
A couple familiar songs for you to sample are:
"Headache"
"Los Angeles"
"Ten Percenter"
"Robert Onion"
Edit*** Did, I forget to say the Pixies!!!! Well, them too. And I'll second anything by Radiohead!

you want a good tripping album, try "Pure Guava" by WEEN. they're the shit, and it's one of their older records...1993...definately recorded under the influence & best for. ALL Ween shit is good, but if ur D/Ling songs, search "Pure Guava" &/or Ween...you wont regret it.

TOOL, definatly TOOL. I would suggest the songs Eulogy, Opiate, Prison Sex, Aenema, Pushit, and The Grudge. Stay away from Message to Harry Manback though. Its not good while tripping.

I give big Nods of agreement for . . .
Flaming Lips - Y Battles the Pink Robots. Get this album. Listen to it, then go buy The Soft Bulleton. You will not be disapointed. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. As I said in another thread. My new favorite trip album. Radiohead is always a killer. I can think of at least three times that FITTER HAPPER almost destroyed me and LUCKY brought me back from the brink.

That Violent Femmes song "I dig the black girls" is way cool when tripping because of all those bizarre instument sounds which go for ages in the middle of it.

Yes, as said above... Tool, Tool, Tool, Tool, and when you're done with that, try some Tool.
Oh, Pink Floyd is also superior to anything else out there, but that's not really "modern" rock.

This isn't new but some really bizarre stuff that could prove to be hard to find is uriah heep's 'demons and wizards' this is one of the craziest albums on mushrooms or acid. Also try robert hunter's 'prominent rider', 'yessongs' by yes any pink floyd, some jethro tull is good. I don't really listen to modern music though

Saying that you like older stuff i assume that you definitely love Pink Floyd already, so i recommend Anathema latest ones.
I also second the guy who recommended Portishead. If you want to try some trippy electro stuff i recommend Haujobb. Cheers!
