Whats the best music?

What would be the best music to trip to when on acid? I can never seem to find anything that works well with my mood or my high. It either brings me down or its too intense! I'm a huge music fan, I need music at all times wherever I am whatever I'm doing, but when it comes to trippin' on cid nothing seems to work...any suggestions?

C'mon. Floyd is nice, but theres nothing the world trippier than Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane.

number one album i'd have to say is... passion - the soundtrack for the last temptation of christ by peter gabriel, this is the kind of album that you would paint your body and dance around a bonfire to, it has wide range of emotions for you to experience. it's like nothing else by peter gabriel, very tribal. another good one is spacetime continuum's sea biscuit, it's similar to their alien dreamtime cd that features terence mckenna tellin' it how it is but it's all instrumental. it's some great electronic music that has many ups and downs. it'll space out for a good 5-10 mins. then slowly a drum beat will grow in the background until it's real intense then eveuntually diminshes again just to repeat the pattern all over. both of these are very re-playable, i listen to both frequently while i blow glass.

I had good effect with Radiohead's kid a and Amnesiac. But Nothing beats Good Sitar. Go for something fast. Get Ravi Shankar, because he's the best, but while slow sitar is calm and relaxing and meditative, if you get some real fast stuff going you will trip insanely hard.

SHPONGLE SUCKXX Download some dancehall - ragga from kazaa/winMX. There are great happy and mad vibes. If you want some psychic hiphop , download Anticon. They are all white boys, making abstract hiphop. When I hear some of the songs I get this deja vue feeling, and the others just rock ! Maybe wont give you the happiest vibes tripping ( I havent tripped on them ) but .... well just listen to them Jungle is nice too.

Hey toad when did you listen to Shpongle on a good dose of psychedelics? Here's a quote from Simon Posford: "When you hear music on hallucinogenics you hear it in a New Way..." My friends and I have agreed that audio-stimulation is processed somewhat differently under the influence of psychedelics - My friends have heard most of Posford's music without psychedelics, and they are not impressed (as it seems you aren't) - UNTIL I play it on mushrooms and then they become Shpongle Believers, even those into Floyd or TooL or the Dead or whatever.... He seems to have noticed some things about how we listen to sounds differently on psychedelics that most artists haven't tapped into, and exploits these things to really GRAB you with sonic acrobatics while you're tripping. My point is, If you haven't tripped to Shpongle, I don't think its fair to say they suck, because thats what its made for (Listen outside loudly if possible). You probably have the mp3s anyway, in which case you're missing out on half the experience and your claim becomes even more ungrounded - get it CD-quality and trip to it; then come back here and tell me it sucks. I haven't found any form of audio entertainment that has pleased everybody I've tripped with to this extent. It seems the only way to show people the sheer detail and complexity is to play it on psychedelics. I don't think its wise to insult trip-music that you haven't tripped to, or to recommend trip-music you haven't tripped to.. that just doesn't make any sense to me.

Shpongle does not suck! I agree there are many other great groups and songs to listen to, but Shpongle is truely amazing. If you try listening to it while not tripping you'll just think to yourself "this isn't that great." That's just because Shpongle reaches out on totally different levels. Levels that we couldn't understand unless tripping.
But anyhow, I typically like to listen to Enya to calm and relax myself then I work my way into Shpongle. I am absolutly captivated by evey note. Sometimes I'll just get up and stare at my stereo in disbelief. It's like it's not humanly possible to hear the things that come out of the speakers! I've must have listened to each one of Shpongle's songs like 500 times, but everytime I hear a song I find something new to be captivated by.

I have to agree with psy. Although I haven't listened to that soundtrack in a while it is truly amazing and would be great to trip too. Thanks for reminding me. I remember the very first time I really sat down and listened to David Holmes-Let's Get Killed while tripping and it was truly amazing under the influence. He is a very talented guy and the all of the songs flowed so well for me and just really drew me in and made me fell as if I was truly involved with the music.

Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom was a pretty fun album to trip to..... It was to a lesser extent a bit like Shpongle where the slow progression and complication of each track assisted in producing structured visuals and astounding EUREKA!-type trains of thought. I have yet to check out their new double-cd that was just released this month, but from what I've heard, its the closest thing to Classical Mushroom in terms of structure that they've created so far djd586, I know what you mean by being captivated by every tiny piece of the album - these sonic acrobatics created by Shpongle have NO equal that I've come across yet - spread the word - hopefully soon more people will give it a shot - remember we've got Shpongle III incoming next year! hoO0RAY!!! BTW I was just out driving to the optometrist listening to Shpongle (Dorset Perception - the part where all the "bop" and "boo" voices start wandering in)), and had to stop for some "peds" to cross the street. This lady and her small child started crossing, and the kid was staring right at me/my car the whole way across the street, completely zoning out.. was he Shpongled? I'll never know, but he sure looked fascinated

Infected Mushroom is definitely worth a listening to while tripping. My favorite Goa artists, however, are Chi-AD and sober or tripped, their music will slam you into the deepest trances you'll ever experience from Goa (imho). There are so many gifted producers though...X-Dream, Astral Project, MFG, M.O.S., Double Dragon, Darshan, Shakta...I could go on and on.
check out the link I put in the thread a few spaces up for a multitude of psychedelic music links.
Regarding Shpongle while tripping: it should be noted that Simon and Raja create beautiful/brilliant psychedelic atmospheres...but there are "better" psychedelic artists out there. Check out Negativland's "Escape from Noise" CD for an insanely amusing journey into chaos and mind-fuck.
Love & Light,
Boppity
PS - That being said...the best sex I ever had was blowing up on a ten-strip of LSD with Hallucinogen's "Twisted" CD playing in the background.

I can't agree with some of the Shpongle statements. I only have the first album, have never listened to it on shrooms, and still think it rocks. Planning on getting the second album soon and giving them both a listen with some chemical assistance. But you don't NEED drugs to enjoy this album. Some of the freshest electronic music to come out in a genre that has become very stagnant in the last few years. My Current Favorite Trip Albums: Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin and Y Battles the Pink Robots Wilco - Summers Teeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Radiohead - Kid A Sonic Sum - The Sanity Annex Other albums that used to be in my regular trip rotation, have found their way out, but still worthy of any good experience. The Guru - Jazzmatazz DJ Shadow - Endtroducing Mark Farina - Mushroom Jazz volume I Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children Massive Attack - Mezzanine and Blue Lines Dr. Octagon - Dr. Octagonologist Orbital - In Sides Beck - The first time I listened to Midnight Vultures I was trippin' and it made my side hurt I laughed so hard. Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted Air - Moon Safari Underworld - Second Toughest of the Infants Any heavy hitting Drum and Bass mix by one of the masters.
