What are the odds?

Has anyone been picking in the Appalachian mountains before?
tomorro i am off to a place in the mountains called "Cave run lake" up in Daniel Boone country.
I have never had any luck with woods, what could i be looking for if anything?
I will write a findings report when i return.

Well.. all of the psilocybian mushrooms on the East Coast grow in grass or dung, not in the woods. There are only two species of psilocybian mushrooms that grow in the woods(on the east cost):

1. Gymnopilus spectabilis (not in season)
2. Psilocybe caerulipes (very rare)

Of course you could find Amanita muscaria, but who wants to eat those anyway? Doesn't sound like anything I'd like to experience.

Nah, it doesn't have to be too cold. Just not blazing hot. It's been in the lower 80s here in GA for the past 3 or 4 days. It's possible that you could find some, just be 100% sure that you have the right thing, a mistake with Russlas would be a good way to ruin your time on the trail. A mistake with other Amanitas could cost you your life. Be careful.

First off the picking followed by drying.
After that it`s in your hands to come up with somet, experiment.
Eat whole, put in soup, grind up and snort :frown:, anal shove up :blush: etc.
