Teacher Rating ?

Not really sure what everyone is going to think of this but anyway I was just sitting here smoking a bowl and I started thinking about how it might be kind of cool to have some sort of rating specially designed so people can tell by looking at someone and being able to tell how good or bad information a poster gives on different subjects.
For example say someone posted a question about lsd, It would be alot easier for someone to sort through all the posts by just seeing a rating of someone who obviously knows there shit as opposed to some sarcastic bastad who just likes to joke around.

I think it's best to post in the community for a while and then you will get to know who knows a lot about what.

Yeah I think the rating system is enough. It tells you a little about what the community thinks of the person without belittling anyone else.

if you read the general rating on any given user...
you will usually find out if someone gives useful information or not.

If they do it it should just be in the profile or something, don't clutter things up.
It would also be hard to make effective I think. Folks have all sorts of preconceived ideas that they'll likely vote based on, which would make the information quality rating suspect (i.e. marijuana's not addictive, you can't die from marijuana, etcet. Anyone challenging this would likely be given bad ratings despite both being false.)

I think it's a good idea. But at the same time, general ratings do the job so...

Sometimes the majority is wrong. In those cases, the democratic vote system fails miserably.
There is potential for the vote becoming a popularity contest that has little to do with quality of information.
If you read a thread, you yourself have to assay the truth. In thread after thread, you acquire a skill for sifting through factoids to arrive at facts.
This is a skill, a skill of critical and discriminate thinking, is one that is of great value to you in many ways throughout life.
Sometimes the majority is wrong. Sometimes the leading experts are wrong. If you shut off your critical thinking and go with the *Trustworthy Source* label, you become part of the sheeple, the folks who follow blindly.
Think independently. Ask your own questions and find your own answers. Learn to recognize faulty lines of reasoning and when emotion and herd mentality takes over from analysis.
Even if a Resident Experts system were put in effect, you got to check, double-check, triple check what you're being fed, especially when it comes things you'll take into your body.
Don't ever stop thinking outside of meditation practice.
