Huge MOFO 12' x 24' casing

Hey was wondering if I could simply case within a 12? x 24? fish tank without the use of secondary containers. Was just wondering if crumbling maybe 12 or so BRF cakes and casing with verm would work out cool. What problems may I run into...I can definately see over saturation being a problem. Feedback is appreciated.

Should work. Be sure and cover the outside with opaque tape (black electrical tape works good here) up to the verm layer on top.

you're gonna be fucked if you get contams!
Yeah, but if it's contained in its own unit, it has less of a chance to spread to other casings.

Why has no-one suggested spawning some poo or straw into that container. Leaving you with loads more spawn for more tubs of poo/straw.

In reply to:
yeah, but if he made 5 casings out of that area, he would have 1/5th the chance of all of his work going down the drain if one casing got contam'd. it'll be harder to contain the contam with a huge casing...
True, if those are his only cakes, he should break them up into multiple casings.

hmmm decisions, decisions, so I can either fuck it and make a big mofo casing 'prolly get a huge yield', go with a few seperate casings 'much safer', or get some poo and spawn some of that shit 'i did'nt think about this'...so what the hell do I do, lets keep in mind that I have that I have 24 fully colonized BRF cakes.

If you have 24 cakes, why don't you try one or more of these:
1. Fruit PF style. 2. Crumble and case. 3. Spawn dung/compost. 4. Put some compost in the ground or a pot outside and crumble a cake in there. 5. Innoculate some rye or birdseed with some cake crumblings for later.

Sure you can ( ). Crank up the flow hood or hepa filter, be clean & carefull, use 10% or better spawn & go for it. More spawn is better. This one is a compost mix & just had a top casing layer applied a few days ago ( % 30 verm - 29 peat - 29 coir - 5 calcuim carbonate - 5 Diatomite - 2 bone meal). It is just starting to reach through the casing layer & should pin shortly. Temp is 80F & relative humidity @ 86%. All is well -- that ends well . Some you win, others you lose . The winners make up for the losers . SixTango
