ok, its a one cake casing, crumbled and put it in a circular container about 10 inches high and about 3-4 inches in diameter with a air-tight lid. i did a straight verm double-ended casing with damp verm on the bottom. cumbled cake in the middle , and another about 1/2 - 1 inch damp verm on top. The mycelium is recovering and have taken over a pretty big portion of the top verm layer, i cant check the bottom verm layer but that has probably been taken over. I was giong over some old post's and realized that puerto ricans have been known for their agressiveness and their overlay. So i stuck it in the fridge for a cold shocknig for 24 hours untill tomorrow.
1.Was the cold shocking a good idea? 2.Also what can i do if the mycellium takes over the top layer of verm? 3.Any other sugestions on what i should do to get it to fruit?

I have the exact same casing as you, straight verm, 1 Puerto cake, first casing ever.
I was wondering how to avoid overlay and what extra precautions i should take with PR's....
Sorry i cant help Fd

just fruit them bad boys when your mycelium has taken over say 25-30% of the top layer...puertos will colonize very fast... to fruit just drop your temps to mid 70's F, and fan them 3x a day...you should have fruits within 1.5 weeks from the day you fruit them if all goes well....i have never used a dounle sided verm/ casing....i promise that anyone w/ access to dung should definetly try out roadkills dung tek because 1 cake will go a very long way in comparison to plain casing or birthing a cake...very easy tek too...anyone can do it...hope i helped..

For PR put them into the fruiting chamber first and don`t incubte them any more. I`ve also got 2 casings of PR at the mo. ANd I fruited them straight and they colonisedf the surface and started fruiting
