A word from Bill
    #841487 -

To get back to some spirituality on the forum here's the great Bill Hicks discussing mushrooms (thanks to toxick for transcribing this)

Once again, I'd recommend a healthy dose of Psilocybin mushrooms.

Three weeks ago, two of my friends and I went to a ranch in fredericksburg, texas, and took what Terrence McKenna calls a "Heroic Dose" -- five dried grams. Let me tell you, our third eye was squeegeed quite cleanly.

WOW.

And I'm glad they're against the law, because you know what happened when I took them? I laid in a field of green grass for four hours, going "My god, I love Everything". The heavens parted, God looked down and rained gifts of forgiveness onto my being, healing me on every level; psychically, physically, emotionally -- and I realized that our true nature is spirit, not body, that we are eternal beings, and that God's love is unconditional and there's nothing we can ever do to change that. It is only our illusion that we are separate from God or that we are alone.

In fact, the reality is that we are one with God, and he loves us.

Now, if that isn't a hazard to this country...You see my point? How are we going to keep building nuclear weapons? You know what I mean? What's going to happen to the arms industry when we realize we're all one? It's gonna fuck up the economy! The economy that's FAKE anyway...which would be a real bummer.

You can see why the government is cracking down on the idea of experiencing unconditional love."

Bill Hicks: "Satire to me is taking things that are holy in a way; sacred cows; and skewing them."

Apparently Bill Hicks would not be welcome here on the Spirituality Board by some folks. He might even be deemed a "bully".

Bill Hicks: There's points when basically I was drunk, screaming right in their faces. I was not unlike a drunk on a corner just yelling shit. Sounded just like that, probably"Shit fuck piss fuck."

A real role model that one. Now I know where you get your "material".

LOL

I must admit I'm not too surprised that you hate Bill. He stands for pretty much everything you arn't.

oh, here's a quote from the interview you found that you (strangely enough..) didn't choose to mention:

"all the guys were kind of like social, or humanist, but they were also kind of philosophical and spiritual in a way. I don?t know why it came that way, I just know that we all kind of had a similar philosophy about God. It could be that we tripped together so much. [laughs] The guys in Houston?we?re more like Apostles. But definitely there?s a human, spiritual humor here. It?s not really political so much as it is social, you know what I mean?"

Just because Bill Hicks said something in the past that was not exactly spiritually evolved, doesn't mean he had no wisdom at all.

No one said that it did. But the following quote and idea from him does not seem to be coming from a particularly spiritual man.

One of the bits censored by Letterman was a new television show Hicks would host, called "Let's Hunt and Kill Billy Ray Cyrus":

"I think it's fairly self-explanatory," Hicks said. "Each week we let the Hounds of Hell loose and chase that jarhead, no-talent, cracker idiot all over the globe 'till I finally catch that fruity little ponytail of his, pull him to his Chippendale's knees, put a shotgun in his mouth -- POW!"

You don't have much of a sense of humour do you swami

btw, have you ever listened to Bill rather than find quotes on the net? I think you'll gain more of an understanding if you listen. Bill was one of the most intensely spiritual men I have ever heard.

the world is like a ride in an amusement park... and when you choose to go on it you think its for real, cuz thats how powerful our mids are... and the ride goes up and down and round and round, and has thrills and chills and is very brightly colored and is very loud and its fun... for a while... some people have been on the ride for a long time, and begin to question: is this real? or is it just a ride? and other people have REMEMBERED, and they come back to us and they say... hey! dont worry, don?t be afraid, EVER... because... this is just a ride... and we... we KILL THOSE PEOPLE... "shut him up... we have a lot invested in this ride... shut him up! look at my face of worry... look at my big bank acount... look at my family... this has to be real..." it IS just a ride... but we kill those good guys that try to tell us that -have you ever noticed that?- and let the demons run the mock... but it doesn?t matter because... it?s just a ride... and we can change it anytime we want... it?s only a choice... no effort, no work, no job, no savings of money... a choice... right now... between FEAR and LOVE... the eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off... the eyes of love instead see all of us as ONE... here?s what we can do to change the world right now... to a better ride... take all that money we spend on weapons and "defence" each year and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world which it would many times over not one human beeing excluded and we can explore space... together... both INNER and OUTER... forever... in peace...

a great mind, and i great soul i must say...

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

Was not offended. Just find it ironic that my milder satire and parody is considered less acceptable than his extremely scathing humor.
