i've noticed in the pf tek instructions it says to prep the jar lid(if using a 2 piece lid)rubber seal up why turn the rubber seal upwards? it would seem to me this would make less of a air tight seal and if one doesn't flip the inner lid over is there any problems that could arise? also does a spray sheild in a terrarium have to be slanted or can be placed flat across the terrarium as long as it blocks water from spraying directly on your cakes/casing? also if i use a metal screen at the bottom of my terrarium would it be alright to layer the bottom of it with perlite and if i did so would i still need to drain the water out of the bottom or would the perlite soak all of that up?

The lids stay airtight upside down. If you put them seal side down, they will seal and you will have a bad time getting the lid off and you will fuck shit up. Also, if you seal them you will have to buy new lids every time. Why do that?
I wouuld think that if you left the drip shield flat, that you would soon have a small bacteria trap of standing water.
Anyway, don't bother with spraying. Just fill the bottom with perlite and use that for humidity. Works just fine by itself.

Yeah, you wanna punch your holes so that the ragged edges point down so you don't tear your foil or tape or whatever you use.
Perlite will provide all the humidity you need and then some. Make sure you dump a little hydrogen peroxide in as well to help with contams.....
