Re: size vs. potency? [Re: FujiFlame]

I did 3 grams of my camos last Saturday night and I not kidding at all, I was insane for about 7 hours.
I ran them through the blender with OJ and chugged it straight down. I spent all 7 hours under my blankets:eek:
As for size over potency, I can see only one reason to worry about weight and I wouldn't bring that up here.
Its just for me and my friends so I harvest as soon as the veil breaks.

I've found that large mushrooms aren't necessarily any more potent than their smaller counterparts; in fact, once they start getting so large, the drugs in them just end up getting needlessly dispersed throughout more shroom material. Not that I've done a study on the matter, but that's just my experience from dosing.

Concerning that:

Quote:
Picking pins and young specimens to get more potent "material", prevents spores from getting deposited, which is something we don't want, I guess. If you have at least little respect for nature, you'd better let the fruits do their "work"!.
Second thing is the dose calculation.
If we say a stronger trip is about 20mg of Psilocybin, we'd need about 1.2 gram (in this case) of small and young fruits.
We'd need about 1.7 gram of the older fruit from Table I.
Since we all know, that the alkaloid content of mushrooms varies greatly within different fruits, this would make the calculation of pins a lot more "risky" in terms of a too strong trip.

In addition: The taller specimens weigh 9 times more than the smaller ones, which means the total Psilocybin content of one 450 mg specimen is at 5.4mg, while the content of the young specimen is only 0,855mg.
That's 6.3 times more Psilocybin from the big mushroom (still less when looking at the ratio: alkaloid / weight).
However, theoretically the young mushroom of 50mg would mature into a tall mushroom of 450mg.
This not only increases the amount of Psilocybin you "haul" 6.3 times but also makes it possible for the mushroom to distribute it's spores.

So it's not a needless buildup of mushroom material. It benefits us, as well as nature!
When you do indoor cultivation it doesn't matter, but outdoors it does!

Sure these things taste fucked up (at least most people think so) and eating less to achieve the same results would be cool, but consider that as a kind of ticket for the ride"

I think trying 2 grams dried is a good test. That is what my friend recommends. He prefers smaller mushrooms because he thinks they are more potent but it could be a placebo effect lol

This question kind of goes along with the topic, Since larger mushies are less potent by weight, and smaller mushies are more potent by weight, wouldn't picking them early keep them from using up nutrients and potentially give you more mushies? If so, you would have comparable weights because you have more musies in the end.

No, they wouldn't!
As calculated before, the big mushroom from the above example contains 6.3 times pore Psilocybin than the small mushroom, and you wouldn't be able to make that up, by picking them early and speculate on the same amount (in weight) comming out.

Theoretically you'd need six flushes of small mushrooms to equal one flush of big mushrooms. Getting six flushes -even from small mushrooms- is highly doubtful, while it's likely that you get at least two "good" flushes with big mushrooms.

I usually used to actually toss my trays after 2 flushes to make room in the greenhouses for new ones to move in,why wait for 3rd and 4th flush stragglers when you can always be picking 1st and second flush wonders

Phew, I thought I was a bad grower from only getting 2 good flushes off Coir. I always seem to screw up my casing surface.

You could get more flushes if you felt like dunking them and babysitting them its just that when you can be getting 1st flushes from the trays you move in to replace them it hardly seems efficient.

Get a pattern down where you always have it timed out so you have projects in every stage of cultivation so when its time to toss some its the same time to move in new ones, soon you will find yourself having to pick and dry mushrooms on a near daily basis,I still cant and possibly never will be able to understand why some people grow the way that they do when its so easy to set up an actual mushroom factory that is just churning out new harvests nearly every time you look

Same here...
It's a problem though, 'cause I don't have enough time and space to care for them the way I'd like to.

Anyway, it's just nice to have something to watch all the time
