For the sceptics...
    #8197612 -

Everyone here talks about ego,

"your so egotistical to think that"

"to think you are the universe is so egotistical"
(thats the worse one because to know the universe the 1st thing you have to do is transcend ego lol!)

How can anyone who has not transcended ego call someone egotistical?

The very statement "your so egotistical" implies being able to have no or little ego?

If these sceptics had gone anywhere beyond egotistical then they would not be sceptics lol

So to sceptics i ask what is a person if they have little ego? Are you that? If not then what gives you the right to call someone egotistical?

:peace::heart:

In regards to that I think you can look at it from two perspectives. One, I do believe that I am the universe, but because of that I believe I am everyone else. So from this perspective how can I be better or worse than anyone else? I am the exact same thing. In my opinion there is nothing egotistical about that.

On the other hand to think you are the center of the universe could imply that nothing is more important than you. That I would say is certainly egotistical which seems to be the perspective you are asking this from.

For these sceptics that use the word ego yet seem to believe of nothing beyond ego...why do you use the word ego?

I believe there is nothing before the ego either . You can't have a non ego without an ego. They are the same thing.

Having an 'ego' is healthy, as long as it is the servant, not the master. Being egotistical means indulging in a sense of self derived from feeling one is better than others. That, to me, is the difference.

it is definately not in the i am the centre of the universe sense, that is just preposterous for someone to think that.

It is in the sense this piece of dirt under my foot is of the same exact value as i am. Realising the universe there is no ego involved, the ego is the very thing that believes itself to be separate and keeps you from realisation of being the universe.

'Having an 'ego' is healthy, as long as it is the servant, not the master.'

Perfect.
After an all out ego assault reconstruction is necessary.

He is better at golf than me, not better or more complete as a person than me. He would not be indulging by believing the former as it would be obvious after a few holes; but the latter would be indulging in egotism.

No human being is better than any other on the grounds that there is no ultimate arbiter for superiority and inferiority, and also because all of our traits are determined by our genetics and our conditioning.

Well there is no point in being human. The only thing humans are supposed to do is be born and die. We all do that just fine. Anything else you choose to do doesn't make you better at being a person, it just makes you a different person.

Saying that you're the Universe is not egoistical, however, it is ignorant to say this in my opinion. We don't know the universe, he hardly know this planet or ourselves. Making a statement like this one is just wishful thinking.

Bathed in your sighs

The Buddha was a skeptic. Skepticism is extremely healthy when timed right, just like anything else.

When you divide yourself off from skepticism, then your ego is saying you are not a skeptic. Right now, I'm skeptical of the fact that you are never skeptical about some things at some times.

Ah yes, judging skeptics...

I fail to see the difference between a skeptic that has never transcended egoloss and a non-skeptic that has transcended egoloss, but has returned to the realm of duality.

If you are not the path, then you are egotistical; there is no in-between. Be wary of the ego inflating its sense of worth after having experienced something 'special'.

I never seriously read threads in which anyone tries to have a serious discussion about the "ego".

Werd. Its easy to feel like damn im sepcial after being catapultyed across the universe, but then you realise there was no person being catapulted, this "I" was long dead before i transcended this "I"

Im just asking them (skeptics) what would they percieve sumone having little ego as being like as a person?

And are they themselves like this?

If not then what gives them the right to call someone egotistical?

Thats all...

In the end someone who has little ego would never call someone "else" egotistical, as they don't see "others" they see "us"....its that simple.

Well, here's a good reason:

The term is far too ambiguous, and, far too often, it is never clearly defined. The term is almost as dirty as g*d. In fact, from here on out, I think I'll refer to it as "eg*".

I just think it is gay how, over and over again, these discussions arise in which people think the eg* topic is some dilemma to be explored and figured out. Rarely have I seen the meaning associated with the term eg* have any real reflection of the nature of reality itself. Just today I was reading a thread in which someone was referring to destroying the eg*. Its just nonsensical gibberish. :cuckoo:
