I have asked Dennis McKenna long time researcher in tryptamines and mushrooms, brother of Terence McKenna, if he would be interested in taking part in a live chat 'in the near future' with Shroomery members. He has agreed
Please leave some feedback.
Good luck

that would be extremly great!! Only i think it should be a password protected chat.....so that no one terrorise the chat at that moment and leave mister McKenna with a bad impression of the shroomery... But what a good idea!! thnks dude!! Paddo

It is cool, Dennis has already chatted at the Spriritplants site. He is a good friend of mine. HEre is a pictuee of us at Chapman University with other noted speakers I lectured with.
That is Dennis McKenna on the left, then Leonard Enos, author of A Key to the North American Psilocybin Mushroom, the first ID book published. Then Dr. Jochen Gartz of the University of Leipzig, me and finally on the far right, Ethnobotanist Jonathan Ott.
This is fromthe Gathering of the Minds Conference at Chapman University, 1994.

WOW, great picture! That must of been a great event.
Hey, is that Dr. Rick Doblin in the background? Between you and Dr. Gartz....looks like him.

That would be a great time and excellent opportunity for the shroomery. I would be very interested in attending the chat.
Keep me informed...

It wouldn't necessarily have to be password protected, but at least a moderated chat... Obviously it would be a high traffic period for the chat, so people would have to resist using excessive meaningless comments... You could basically voice anyone who isn't normally a troublemaker, and have very strict rules... The second someone starts to get out of line, you could just de-voice them, and not allow them to speak for the rest of the session...
But even those who are prone to outbursts should be allowed to ask any questions they might have, so I propose that there be some place to submit questions before the actual chat session as well, so that if someone has something intriguing to ask, it can still be relayed...

I think we should have it password protected. I like your intentions Zero__Glass, but I would loath to see some idiot offend Dr. McKenna.

Your proposal to submit questions prior to chatting with Dr. McKenna is a fine idea! I support this, and would like to see it implemented. I do have a few questions that I would love to ask him. Anyone have ideas on how to do this? Perhaps we can organize a new forum just for these questions?

The forum participants of the New York Times Drug Policy Forum, a board not too much unlike this one believe it or not but far more politically active, found that such chats worked best when rules were kept to a minimum and all were encouraged to participate. The chats are archived at the nyt site. Feel free to have a look. These are the guests that this unofficial crew of motley reformers on that board presented...
